Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Where do the nets find these people?

I'm still waiting for an example of a busy (hopefully bike-related) internet forum where women don't feel inhibited about posting like they seem to feel here...

I don't think adapting to our environment/social norms equates to social norms becoming instinctual in nature.

Repressing sexual urges is not natural, it's extremely unnatural. The fact that society has taught us to do so speaks more to the fact that we have adapted to social expectations, not that we have become less sexually driven.

One of the many responsibilities of that whole "higher animal" gig. Thankfully so for the sake of the women I love in my life.

You joined BF in 2006. By now you should have realized that there are people much weirder than me here.

Ok, so here's the bottom line as I see it.

If you are a woman, post.
If you don't like how you are treated, call the person on it.
If you feel the person crossed the line, report them.
This is a competitive forum, so HTFU.

Repeat.

After looking in the mirror and nodding approvingly at my unshaven face, all I have to say is:

I believe Team Estrogen might qualify, but it might not be "busy enough" for you.

Thanks for that. I just spent some time reading over there, and it seems like a nice enough place. But, there were only 11 threads in the General Discussion sub-forum that had replies with today's date on them. That's about 30 seconds worth of posting here. Maybe I just have ADD...

Look at the difference between TE and BF:

Honestly, my posts here are more than a bit tongue-in-cheek. I judge what people say based on the quality of their posts, not on who is posting it. I'm not gender-blind by any means, but more gender-indifferent. FWIW, I like smart, interesting women, and have always managed to surround myself with quite a few of them. Being attractive is a bonus, not a prerequisite.

You won't get any cat calls in the Racing sub forum. There are plenty of posts of women in the suffering thread, and all that gets commented on is their suffering face, bike, kit, and how the race went.

i wonder how many of the bike forums thread vs team estrogen's threads are of relevant topics (as in, not useless). TE also has a higher percentage of active members than BF.

It's true that that thread is gender-benign, but the first woman that posted got a response along the lines of "you look good on a bike, unlike most women". And there is a series of posts about the Rock Racing "women racers" which was mostly just funny.

There really are at most handful of pics from women in there. If I posted there, I'd like to be called out on my suffering face, bike position, etc, not my "looks".
