Your right. I stand corrected. PCAD is funny. On a serious note, Lance said, his foundation is donating to this tragedy. I think it does encourage others to do the same. There is nothing but good, that can come of it. I think it's human nature for someone who does a good deed to want others to know. That doesn't diminish the deed itself.....Now go donate a few dollars to help... This was meant as a positive post..Butto got me off course, my apologies!!

I thought you said HE was donating the money.
Here's the actual statement:
“On behalf of Livestrong and everybody at our organization we’d like to pledge $250,000 for the relief efforts down there for two primary organizations: Partners In Health – great friends of ours doing great work in that country – and also Doctors Without Borders.
You do know that's not his money, correct?
Whatever. Doctor's Without Borders is a great organization.

Came to post that it's not his money but Racer Ex beat me to it, if it was his money it'd be one thing this is just a re-appropriation of other people's money.

That's true. I imagine that there are a lot of people that would rather see their livestrong donations go to cancer related charity.

I think you guys are getting a little too deeply into how the sausage is made. It's a symbolic gesture, designed in part to generate more donations to LiveStrong, presumably by people who would like to use it as their vehicle for helping the people of Haiti. We're talking about people's lives here--not egos or tax status. That's the message I take from the announcement.
While I was touched by botto's link to the company donating 10% of its receipts to the relief effort, the whole announcement smelled to me more of a firm trying to promote its product and sales. Not to take anything away from the gesture, which I assume is genuine, but it doesn't measure up, IMO, to what Armstrong is doing.

I just heard Trek wanted to donate some bikes to help out but Haiti refused them after concerns about some bottom bracket issues.

Yeah, I get all warm and gooey inside whenever I hear of famous people pledging other people's money for disaster assistance to people they previously paid no attention to and couldn't have cared less about.
Haiti has the unique distinction of being THE poorest country in the entire Western Hemisphere.
How did The Lance let such a thing happen? Good to see he's finally picking up the slack.

"I have not seen any other statements of concern from other cyclist."
There are no other cyclists of Armstrong's stature, so if they are donating something, it won't make news.

Oh boy here we go. Who is the business man whom you make reference to? If your talking about Lance Armstrong, and don't know what he has to do with cycling...your post is about as worthless as BOTTO's 217. But from BUTTO it's expected, as he and PCAD are in a race for the most worthless posts ever in an open forum.
Your post sounded like you were trying to stick one to the "LA haters" on BF. I apologize if I missed the part where you were trying to promote charitable giving.

Don't take offense. If you think I am making reference to you because of some of the idiotic comments above, rest assured I am... Damn, this will probably get me another one of those infractions..It's just hard to keep my mouth shut around such stupidity!!
