Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

40 = comfort, easy breathing.
38 = aero.
Either one is probably going to feel very, very weird at first.

Thank you for the reply, Schnee. I think I will hit up my local bike shop on my next day off to see if I can find something. Should I learn to wrap the new bars myself, or is it typical to let the shop do that for me?

I'm 6'2", so when I first had a bike built, I assumed I needed big - 44cm it was.

Lately, I've found that I much prefer narrow handlebars. Most of my bikes have 40cm bars on them now. These days when I ride the bike with 44cm bars, it feels like I'm driving a truck.

you should learn to disassemble and put together every single piece of component on the bike if you ask me.

i rewrap my bar about 3 time before i trash them, they get loose, get dirty and get tore up, learning it DIY will save you tons of
time skipping the trip to the LBS.

maybe go watch how to do it for the first time? wrapping the bar is like changing a flat, if you can't do it yourself maybe it's time to ask why.

5'11"

Road Bike : 44cm ctc
FG : 42cm ctc

I like the narrow feel on the FG but always find that 44cm was a bit more in general, esp when climbing.
