Those things are built like a brick ****house. I was in the back of one when my mum totalled it going off a hairpin, and was comparatively alright. The front doors overlapped the rear after impact.
My Volvo suffered a compressed bumper shock, broken headlight assembly and damaged headlight trim (still cost his insurance $3k as I lost patience when he decided to lie - but that's off topic). The Ranger's radiator blew when it smashed into the engine/fan and the frame/steering linkage bent such that it would not turn right. I drove home. He went home in a squad car and the truck stayed there for weeks. |

At times I think it would be cool to go on an epic cross-county ride. But then I realize it's over my head.

I could do it with sufficient support. I won't set any speed records, but I'd go the distance.

Credit card touring. Hot shower, a massage, and a restaurant at the end of each day.:thumb:
I haven't done it, but that's the way I would do it if I did do it. |
Touring is even dumber than racing. And even pricier.

Here's a more manageable challenge: Climb a hill without having to stop for an oxygen break. OK, your turn. |

OK, your turn. not playing. climbing is for masochists |
What an idiotfest this thread is.
Who started this stupid thread anyway? |
talking about idiotfest, I've decided I will no longer carry anything with me other than a mobile phone for all future rides.
|
I once did one of those ride across the state events. It was Delaware though, so we had to do it twice to make it worth while.

Have you tried reading the driving safety vs. bike safety thread? Many in the BikeForums weenieverse simply don't have a clue how to analyze statistics. |
I'm tired.
|
I'm done with my homework and it's barely after 8. I don't know what to do with myself.

tmi. :P  |
I've been riding my bike the past three days. Two of them on the TT bike. That Slice feels great now, feels a bit faster. Position is dialed.

I was .5 miles an hour faster on one of my 19 TT loops today. It's slightly faster all right. Part of it is the cockpit: new aerobars don't move around when you hit a bump. Also very comfy in the final aero position, I can stay in it 90% of the time (only out of it climbing or in very dicey handling situations). I've been riding it with the tubies, makes the bike faster on the hills and upgrades (there are a couple of little climbs on today's course, including a 250 meter 13% hill near the end).
Most of all, it's fun to ride now. I like it. |
