That's why I said "outside shot". You're right that he hasn't show it this race, but he has that kind of potential, and has hung in there so far.

So I take back the Sastre comment....but was still right about Cadel. Has no chance against Basso on climbs this big.

today i got my 110mm stem and replaced my initial 90mm stem. i felt like all the pressure was taken off my shoulders. tomorrow i will give the new set-up a nice 80 test ride and if no pain developes, I will declare my new bike finally complete.
moral of the story. listen to your body. don't try and adapt to an ill fitting set-up.

With the frequency, distance and weather extremes you ride in Pcaddy maybe these should be your tire of choice....
"Continental GP 4 Season Vectran Folding Tyre
Ultimate combination of speed, lightweight and wet weather performance with excellent sidewall and puncture protection for all weather racing.
- All weather tyre for performance riding whatever the conditions
- Ultra-fine polyamide casing for supple all day performance
- MaxGrip Silica tread compound is specifically optimised for wet weather grip even in low temperatures
- DuraSkin polyamide mesh layer fabric on sidewalls protects the casing against cuts, punctures and abrasion whilst only adding 10g per tyre
- Constructed from 5 plies, totalling 430 tpi
- Weight: 220g (700x23mm)"

For all around riding in slop, my pick would be Bontrager Hardcases (the "Race Lite" lingo is a joke -- they weigh over 300g). Flat resistance is very good and they're cheap. You'd definitely want to swap out the tires on race day.
