Hey Gomer I hit 4000 miles for the year this week. Bear in mind I took a whole week off in May after my spectacular Nyack Ride Crash. Do you find this intimidating?

Oh god midget. I liked the old avatar. Whatever makes you happy anyway.

I had an eventful day.

Got up, went to work early to get fitted. Saw the AM ride and spoke to one of the local team guys about joining! Yes! Looks like it will be fun. Then got fitted. He measured me and the bike, did some work, looked at me on it, and determined I already had everything exact - to the millimeter. Only thing he changed was the cleat position. Cool!

Then I worked for 7 hours.. that was fine.

Then I went to a family friend's house and had key lime pie. That was good. And set stuff on fire. That was good too.

I'm just shy of 2000 miles of awesomeness.

What old avatar? :innocent:

Also, that's pretty awesome that your fit was so dialed in :thumb:

I'm just shy of awesomeness period.

You don't get to know my miles. They are shy.

I just watched the NBC show about SNL in the 2000's.

Not for nothing, but if you don't like SNL, or if you are one of those imbeciles who keeps saying 'the show used to be good, now it sucks', then not only are you a complete and utter friggin moron, but no SNL for you.

Idiots. The show has always been exactly what it is today: live topical sketch comedy with a talented young cast, brilliant or funny 30% of the time, missing the mark at least half the time, great live music from the hottest pop acts of the day from Green Day to Black Eyed Peas to Coldplay. Hell, if you don't like that, it's your problem. The show hasn't been running for 35 years because it's a failure.

Thank you, old avatar is better. :)

And yeah, I was surprised to hear it. He just moved the cleats all the way forward and in. I'm just glad I got the fitting for free, didn't pay the $125 he normally charges. Woo employee benefits :thumb:

At times the cast has been better than it is today.

That's completely subjective. I think the current cast is outstanding.

Velo Vol 05-30-10 09:40 PM

OK, I've not watched it much recently. But obviously at times the cast has been better than others. I think that's what some people mean when they talk about it being better in the past. They're talking about when it had famous alumni.

But those famous alumni weren't famous at the time. Plus, nostalgia plays tricks on one's mind.

And what's up with Tina Fey getting the Mark Twain Lifetime Achievement Award? She's only 40. She's funny and all, but come on. Does this mean that her career is over?

I've been watching the show continuously for 35 years. Those people don't have a friggin clue.

SNL hasn't been the same since Will Ferrell. During those early '00 years, I worked at a Santa Monica basement theater from 9 to 11ish every Saturday night. The (comedian) owner of the place used to hang out in his office with his pop culture geek friends on Saturday night watching TV and hurling cracks and commentary at the screen and each other ala MST 3000. After the show, a bunch of us would join them and watch SNL, hurling cracks and comments at the screen. Keep in mind that the people I often worked with, and who performed at that basement theater, have been SNL cast members, or counted SNL cast members as their close friends. People like Laura Kightlinger, Kevin Nealon, Amy Poehler, Jeff Richards, Sarah Silverman, Fred Armisen, Julia Sweeney, and then of course there's Zach Galifianakis, who hosted recently. Fun times!

Predictably, inevitably, you utterly miss the point. SNL has always been the same. Some of the sketches the current cast has done in the past few years are among the funnier segments I've ever seen on the show.

It's always a mixed bag. It's always fun to watch. It's unique. Nothing else like it on TV.

I think we're all going to Evia (Greece) again this summer. I will, of course, bring the road bike.

I'm up to go for a ride, but now I'm just tired. Must. Go. For. Ride.

patentcad 05-31-10 05:34 AM

It is 7:30AM. It is already 83º. I'm doing 50 miles with the OC Freds this AM. The perfect Ego Salve after being popped on the mid-ride climb by the Nyack boys yesterday. I do love riding in this hot weather. Warm at last.

It's over 80 and I just got home from a 41 mile solo ride. It was cool. 1/3 mph faster avg than the same ride 2 days ago, and there was a headwind! Some ass hat in a car was driving down the middle line at 15 mph so I tried to pass, he moved over. Switched sides. He moved again. Sprint. He was so close to hitting my wheel. Why do people try to hurt people on bikes? I don't get it, but reported him to others riding in the area and a police officer.

The highlight of the day: The ride was a bunch of 3.5 mile laps, and I actually lapped a guy on a Dogma. It was awesome. He was also 3+ times my age, but so what?

They've implemented an austerity program on bike bling.
