Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

do you really average 24-26 for 10 miles? because that could put you off the front of most races for a while...but if you do a TT and post the results (with your rockest time) it will certainly shut some of us up

I think you can do it, but understand others being frustrated if you are claiming to go faster than they can and you have not really "backed it up"

I think that he meant that on a 10 mile ride he has reached speeds up to 26 mph.

Can we please get off the average speed discussion? I could care less what razor averages because there are so many damn variables it tells you absolutely nothing.

I average 21-23 on 3+ mile 9% grades. That's without a really strong headwind though obviously.

I don't care what you post, it doesn't matter. Average speed is a ewang metric.

You don't even have a PM, but yea if you did that is actually a useable metric, but w/kg is preferable.

FWIW, I averaged 21MPH on a 207 mile ride last summer and it was easier than the 18MPH century I did the next weekend.

Hey Razor,

Ames isn't too far from KC. Come ride with me. I'm only a lowly Cat 4 who is 1/3 of the way towards my 3 upgrade after three 4's races.

mike868y - I'll report back with realistic (true) numbers.

nah. I'm going to head north to placid for the BBQ festival and contest. the buck a rib popular vote is too good to pass up with some of the best BBQ joints in the country representing. I'm not going fast enough yet to justify putting my family through a holiday race weekend.

ok.

If we leave from central valley and climb back over that ridge you get another mile-ish wall.

Will you wait for me at the top of all the hills?

To all you anorexic grown ups, read and weep.

Cabbage soup for lunch, right now. mmmmmmm. Right after a 20 mile lunchtime ride. Beat that, fatsos.

Hey coasting, did you see the video I posted here yesterday to remind you of the heady times when you thought England might win something in the World Cup?

Innocent times.

In this thread you'll need some of this:

In the 33 you need Alka Seltzer, a barf bag, and estrogen injections to bring your testosterone levels back to normal.
