My crit today

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/39171109

Didn't crash this time, but 3 other seperate incidents in the last mile can't say the same thing. Very sketchy.

Could have you kept up Pcad?

We grilled spinach-feta chicken burgers from Whole Foods last night.

I feel slu tty. And fatter. Now we must ride in the rain.

3 crashes in the last mile? Were you riding today's TdF?

No, very wide street...felt bad for the junior (very young, but annoying. 2nd time i raced with him, he can't reach his brakes so he just swerves and such to keep from riding into riders, of course this ends up actually making him fast so he is always there at the end) I bumped someone else in a corner really hard. Lots of yelling. Makes me wish we had one of those field racing clinics around here.

Did you see the very last AG2R crash where the guys bike got tangeled up and was rode away with. He was left lifting his arm and yelling at the guy riding away with his bike? I swore during live coverage some one threw a bike too.

Since it is the 4th of July I thought my utter detonation on the back of the Nyack Ride (aka the Rocket Ride) today was rather appropriate. It was only 3-4 miles from the end anyway. Good workout, hot day.

I must say, the 5+ mile 30-32 mile per hour pull (no exaggeration) that Gavi Epstein took into the headwind on Knickerbocker Road was impressive. Gavi is a Cat 1 who beat half the pros in the TT in his last Pro 1-2 stage race. I'm a little surprised he hasn't gotten a pro deal, he's only 23 years old. Nice kid. Very fast.

That wasn't my undoing, I was ejected 20+ miles later on a little upgrade after a technical descent into a hairpin turn with dirt and gravel. I suspect is was Gavi at the front punching it again however.

Hey, wtf, it's fun chasing those fast guys and I got skinnier.

A lot of climbing today and a lot on tap for tomorrow. I wish I had an altimeter.

They're not all that pricey or unobtainable. My VDO wired bike speedo does altitude fine and it I think you can buy them for $100 or so, I also have an HRM watch that does altitude that was maybe $129. Now I use the Joule.

I have to get a new computer when the Assault gets the Pro+ rebuild. The Specialized will have to do for now.

I humbly propose we add a bike schwag component to this thread. As Ming the Merciless, your lack of cooperation will cause utter fail to this idea.

I'll start. Have at it.

What kind of Eastern Bloc horror show bike is that?

Yaniel 07-04-10 02:26 PM

so how big are the group rides in your areas? While I was in NC, i was amazed that every group i rode with called 15 people a big turn out. Someone you just made this video of a Saturday morning on one of the beaches here, notice in the first 10 seconds, the group passing on the other side of the road. Thats what we consider a small ride. http://www.transitmiami.com/2010/07/...cker-causeway/ and this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s73YO...os=LCQwRbfOFsI is this just a Miami phenomenon?

those are both the A rides, the A/B rides are much larger.

patentcad 07-04-10 02:27 PM

There had to be 80-100 on Nyack today. We needed a press helicopter and a sag wagon.

When school ended my usually 60 person Tuesday 6 AM ride had well over 100. School needs to start again.

My group ride has at most 3, but that's only if my son is up for the ride when my wife and I head out.

I don't think our club has ever had more than 15 on the A ride. Works for me.

yea the smaller groups were nice. another reason this place sucks. only benefit to the large group is that you're never the only one to show up to a ride.

heckler 07-04-10 03:12 PM

at least 25 as many as 50 on weekday rides...the weekend big ride is 50+. Mostly A/B rides.

The show and go Thur training crit does 80+ easy.

It is hard to put a number to many as about 20% join the ride after it starts and as many a 40% pull off before the parking lot.

coasting 07-04-10 03:34 PM

have you ever lost something and then found it down the side of a sofa or something like that? i just found my cycle computer stuck in the seats of my car and it just had to happen 2 days after i received the new one. Sod's Law.
