I like the suicide mission kid. Nice job finishing with the pack after that. In the higher Cats (even 4), you can mark the guys that attack and go with them, and maybe wind up in the break. Hell, even I was able to do that once in a while when I wasn't so old, fat and slow. Actually if I was willing to race with the 4's I might still be able to give that a whirl. Eff that action. I've had it with racing. The competent guys are too fast for me, and the ones that aren't crash too much.

I feel like had I not killed myself attacking I would have placed better, but it was fine. No one would let me back into the pack so I had issues there. Met up with mike afterwards too which was cool.

Average includes my post-race lap which was slower.

You can change your max HR in the Garmin (connect) Settings>Training Zones, if you want to take advantage of HR zone training.

Thanks, I nearly got taken out by one guy. He apologized, but still was scary. Another guy got run off the road and had to ride a couple blocks on the torn up sidewalk.

I did. My max is 203.

Throwing in the towel, Buster Douglas?

I bet it is higher...I thought I was 203ish then I hit 206 one day...you are younger than me and not on medication to make you heart beat slower.

Maybe, that's as high as I've ever gotten though.

Max heat rate is a pretty pointless metric. If you are training with HR zones I suggest you find your LTHR and establish your zones around this number.

The irony is somewhat overwhelming. But I am easily overwhelmed.

Hehe. Right on the money.

In fairness, there are some talented people posting good stuff there. But there is plenty of stuff like this:

- I got podium at the Tour of who-gives-a-f**k.
- Dude, you're awesome.
- No, no, you're awesome. Anyway, I won a plastic trophy and a $5 Walt-Mart gift certificate. It was epic. And I haven't even replaced the Zipps tubulars that I destroyed in the crash during the crit last week.
- Wow, man you're a monster.
- Yes, I'm going to update my blog, and then go to the 41 to tell the Freds how much they suck.

heckler 07-10-10 03:10 PM

isn't your max heart rate the end of zone 5...seems important to know where you can go to me

Correct.

It's like a whole other level of Bike Weenie Delusional Idiocy, one we in the 41 can strive for, but never truly attain.

Ok just wanted to make sure, your file showed that 186 or whatever was like 103% your max.

patentcad 07-10-10 03:26 PM

As you get older, your max hr progressively drops, mine is now 183-185 tops (it was 195+ when I started racing 20 years ago). Eventually it goes to zero, along with your resting hr. Then you'll really be fit.

Really? When I look at it it says 93%

Forget the hazard pay - for this, I'll need an herald. Razor! Go before me, to the 33, and announce mine arrival!

Who here wears gloves while cycling? I hate them, but am starting to think it would be a good idea.

I only wear gloves below 45 F, or so.

I'm not a race strategy guru, but this strikes me as a Freddly approach for a rookie. It's a pretty high bar for coasting to hurdle, but I bet he's capable.

I didn't until I went down and got a ton of gravel embedded in my palm. That was fun.

I found that out of the many fingerless gloves I've gone through, Specialized is my favorite.

Probably, but it was still fun. Let me have my moment.

Speaking of Specialized, they actually make some solid accessories. I wanted Sidi shoes but their BG shoes fit so much better.

Bought this computer today for my wife to replace her Cateye that broke in half last Sunday. I have the same one, but without the altimeter. The stem mount is a nice feature. $90.

Altimeter problem solved.

So if the TdF stage runs a little long because the pace is too slow, they don't cross the finish line in time, and my DVR cuts off the last few mins of the race.

Ass.

Those friggin UCI Freds have to pick it up already. WTF. They're pros, they're not supposed to be too slow. What's up with that?
