Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

As for the shop talk, NY is relatively flat. I can power up any climb (or any that I have found so far) without changing gears too much.

Nevertheless, when I was out in CA with legitimate mountains consisting of multiple switchbacks, elevation changes, etc., it would have been nice--as in a novelty--to have Di2's mouse button shifting and auto-trim as opposed to SRAM Red.

At my level of riding, however, let's face it, Tiagra tuned by my hands is good enough. But make no mistake, Di2 is just better...

Yep, I am serious. Whether or not the market dictates prices to go down due to sales has nothing to do with what Shimano originally set for the group price which IS HIGHER than Force. Force is selling better and I have seen Rival prices go up fom when I got mine (09 Rival). So it is not surprising that Shimano set unrealistic MSRPs with the necessity to have to lower the price once it hit the market with lukewarm reviews.

That really does look good with those wheels. Lose the Ultegra and I will buy it from you.

Bikes: I hate bikes.

I'm soon getting 6700. How nice is it? Can you really only downshift 2 at a time?

Finally, an intelligent question. New Specialized Toupe 143, the new ones are flashier and uglier. But same design, weight.

I actually saw a bear crossing the road not far from Bear Mountain. Trust me, there are bears in that area, they are very people-shy and essentially nocturnal, so you're not going to see them often. Hell, we get one raiding our own garbage here on Mt. Doom a couple of times a year.

Actually, Bear Mountain is a 1200 vertical feet, 4 mile climb from the Hudson River (9W near Iona Island) to the top, so it's really a small mountain by most definitions. This mountain vs. hill debate is rather silly in my view. At the end of the day it depends who you're chasing up the hill it that makes it hard.

And just a week or two ago, we all wanted Cervelos. At least the Scott looks like a bike.

Light bike for a heavy rider.

"My new SuperSix Hi-Mod frame is red which wasnt my choice and I would prefer white or black (or the Liquigas team) color.

Oh well, when you getting a club deal at close to half off, you cant be too picky "

Let me know when you can afford the other half.

My guess is the R2 frame is 975 grams or so vs. 830 for the RC 56cm frame. Bikes don't feel different (or so I'm told), and they are all still relatively light, but there you have it. I knew this going in.

Hey, the bike crap I sold generated $1800 of revenue, the other crap I sold here over $800 (old R/C cars, etc.), so my out of pocket for this swap was <$1000, made sense to me. New/better/lighter bike with zero miles vs. older bike with 25 THOUSAND miles on the frame and its components.

I'm not including the $800 I spent on those D.A. wheels. Look boys, this stuff is like crack, once you get going, it's hard to stop. Some of you know this.
Indeed. This is making my urge to spend part of my bonus and whatever I can get for my Orbea on the Pro Machine I've been interested in getting. Thanks for feeding the urge pcad.
