Back to the thread topic - I have GAS, as do plenty of others here, I'm sure. For fellow sufferers, do you find that buying spare... stuff helps quell the impulse? I bought some more Contis during the most recent round of super-sale madness as PBK, and I do need them, but their arrival was met with a yawn. I think I need another hit. What to do, what to do? New Force crankset? Could a nice floor pump quiet things for a couple weeks? What your smallest dose to calm the tremors?

Frees my mind for other things. I seem to be a lot happier than most competitive people I know too. And, I have the best 3 dogs, er I mean 3 great dogs.

I might take up racing. Posting pictures of Cadillacs seems like fun. Well, I'd probably have to post Pintos or Gremlins, but still.

With the Shoe Goo curing on my SpeedPlay cleats, I decided to take the subway to work. On the subway was, well, someone with a road bike, clipless pedals, lycra, etc, etc. She took the subway to my stop, about 6.5 mile ride. I saw her meet up with others, presumably for a ride... my question is, "why?" If you're going for a ride, why take the subway a measly six-and-a-half miles?

I saw a guy riding a TT/Tri yesterday in bibs, no jersey.
Just don't ever do that.
Ever.

For the enjoyment of lugging a bike in and out of the subway, no doubt.

You all will be lining up to come here when this hot spot is completed. Look out, Disney World.

Oh, this will have them jetting in from NY, London, Sydney and Bahrain.

Scheer told the Scope that the attraction will be a "complete immersion" into the pre-1940s timber lifestyle culture of the Smoky Mountains.

Can't I see that now just by taking a drive through there?

Good point.

You know what? After experiencing both lifestyles - big city and wooded rural - I'll take wooded rural any day. JFC does the city ever suck!!! It's been my plan to retire to the woods (with a general store a short distance away), and by god I'm going to do just that! While I don't actually live in the city, it's not very far away, but even that's too close. I liked NH a lot when I lived there.

I bought 4 Conti tubes during their "buy one get one free" sale last week and they arrived yesterday so I'm stocked up with tubes for a while and 8 Conti tubes for under $20 isn't bad at all considering the local shop charges about $5 per tube. I also bought an extra pair of Conti 4000S tires when they had the sale because my Orca will need new tires soon.

I like the appeal of rural living because I'm at the point where the advantages of the big city just aren't worth the sacrifices one has to make to live in an urban center, but having a young daughter I'd really like to keep her close to NYC because there's so much cultural diversity here as well as museums to enjoy so I think we'll stick around for a while longer. We bought a condo right across he Hudson river so I can see the skyline from our windows which makes it close enough to be practical but far enough to escape that urban jungle.

Day 3 of a tropical heat wave for So Cal. Feels like the Yucatan on a bad day. I'm heading to the beach with my bike for the day. 80's along the beach, which is better than 100+ up here. I don't know if I should do lycra, or just wear cotton shorts, a t-shirt and ball cap. Swap out the pedals and just rock the tourist look.
