I live near a river. I wouldn't swim in it though. I might grow an extra limb.

Different injury. There are a few. This is my arthritic right knee.

Pay attention, I'm the guy who saved your stupid bike weenie life.

They better start ruing..... for their own sake.

coasting 07-29-10 09:02 AM

My surgically repaird knee was essentially OK for 18 years. Then I hit 50. Arthritis. Happily I am one of the patients that responds exceptionally well to the Synvisc shots. If you are one of those, it's a friggin miracle drug. The cycling certainly helps in that regard, I think it helps the Synvisc work better.

i was told by the surgeon that i should never take up running. no problem. running is dumb.

Running rules. Doctors are dumb.

Unfortunately I can't run either. But I have been able to hammer on a bicycle for 20 years.

i live on an island, i dont get much else but water. and when it's not water it's a field of cows... and cow ****.

mzeffex 07-29-10 09:14 AM

Yesterday at work I assembled a Trek Belleville. Pretty cool bike. Recycled saddle, biodegradable tires, powder coated not spray-whatever because it's more environmentally friendly, generator hub with lights etc.

It came packed in little cloth bags instead of plastic, and most of the zip ties usually on new bikes were replaced with string. There were a few zip tires though. The little parts were either in bags (bolts) or wrapped in paper (headset bearings and such).

The best part was the pedals: They came wrapped in plastic as always, but had a peice of paper taped to them.

While everything was biodegradable, the packing materials filled up a trashcan completely. A trash can that usually holds 3-4 bikes worth of packing materials.

I'm turning into the ahole cyclist on the paths. If it wasn't for my mad handling skills, there would be trouble.

Go figure.

I didn't realize there were so many in a treatment.

Sorry to hear, but glad they help.

Should I continue to ride the multi-use paths to work, where the female aerobic scenery is excellent, but the riding, braking, and slowing is maddening? There are less congested options.

I'm turning into the ahole cyclist on the paths. If it wasn't for my mad handling skills, there would be trouble.

I do everything I can to avoid the paths. From the cellphone talking cyclists, to the dog walkers, it is a damn combat zone. Afternoons bring out the aerobar crowd, and others practicing paceline skills.

No thanks.

Velo Vol 07-29-10 09:28 AM

One nice thing about the Boulevard de Freds is that you can often see some female scenery without having to ride on a trail.

Fing hell. this is what happens when a thread becomes a weenie fest.

Not to worry. I figured it out.

Carry on.

sbxx1985 07-29-10 09:38 AM

I'd rather stick a carrot in my eye than have some doctor jab a needle in my knee.

With age, comes needles and rubber gloves.

coasting 07-29-10 09:42 AM

one of my neighbours collered me yesterday and said he was going on a guided walk of the local area and there was this girl he met on a previous walk that he wanted to see again, but he needed me to come along so it could look more casual. the first thing that sprung to mind was the girl is going to think we is gay and he is an idiot for not realising this. how do i tell him i won't do it?

Jeepnut22 07-29-10 09:44 AM

Or maybe you take the girl...

This is the best part.

I'd just go. That's his problem.
