The productivity at the office is about to go to hell.

patentcad 07-22-10 04:41 PM

Both Alberto and Andy are very likable kids, I don't think Alberto has a bad bone in his body, ditto for Andy. Somewhat refreshing after TdF champs like Lance who were more barracuda-like.

I really don't know who to root for. I like Andy. And I've come to admire Alberto's demeanor and personality. He really put up with a lot of crap from Lance and Johann last year. I wouldn't have been as nice about it as he was. Please note that he is smart enough now to only say glowing and nice things about Lance in the media. He's not so dumb.

The fact that Alberto and Andy get along so well is refreshing for such fierce on the bike rivals. Makes the sport warmer and fuzzier. It sure could use some of that.

my favorite comment from pcad's article is "she came and she went"

coasting 07-22-10 04:45 PM

i havent followed it but why is lance such a non story this year?

i remember last year BFers were ging on about how contador will be smacked down without a team and how he shot hmself in the foot by being such an arse to king lance. he'll regret it. you'll see. you'll all see.

I told him he should use BF as a resource on the Litespeed. Then I see his thread. Certainly not the most articulate or innovative question ever, but I wasn't consulted. He got flamed, in typical BF fashion.

I don't think they treated him too badly in that thread. I've seen worse.

He's 30 mins down on GC and not exactly lighting it up at the TdF. Respectable enough ride, but by the standards of a rider of his caliber, rather disappointing. Bad luck, crashes, etc. in the first week put him behind the 8 ball and I'm not sure even a 32 year old Lance would have bounced back from all that. Lance hung it up after that, tried to save something to go for a stage win. Got in the break the other day, but there were too many guys at the end, he doesn't have the snap in his sprint he once had, he only got 6th. He did appear to have the overall form, he finished 4th in the prolog TT, and in today's stage he finished considerably ahead of Levi on the Tourmalet, despite not exactly having the motivation to suffer a GC contender has.

I'm hoping he crushes that last TT and gets top 3, or at least top 5 or 10.

I'm still impressed. He may not have had enough to finish it off the other day, but he pushed. He has a lot of miles on that body, been through a lot, and he still rides with all but the top guys. Wonder how many of these younger guys will be able to do that at his age.

coasting 07-22-10 04:57 PM

sounds like he just had bad luck at the beginning otherwise he would be up there as a contendor like last year.

patentcad 07-22-10 04:57 PM

What would Lance do? Get a good lawyer of course.

mzeffex 07-22-10 04:59 PM

Hey pcad, can you post a photo of your joule set up? I installed one today on a (stationary) bike and couldn't see why/how you would put that on your bike without it getting in the way.

coasting 07-22-10 05:01 PM

that reminds me. do most people have wired cadence? i bought a wireless computer and just assumed that meant the cadence would be wored too but it has a wire and i hate all that wiring making a mess everywhere. also make washing the bike more of a pain.

Because there is NO FRIGGIN CHANCE that this issue is not related to the electronic throttle given the way some of these cars have behaved. I believe Toyota when they say they can't replicate or find the problem. But cars do simply not accelerate to 100+ mph with the transmission in reverse, the emergency brake engaged and the brakes fully deployed, in a surging and erratic manner, without a stuck fly by wire throttle. In several cases this behavior has also been accompanied by the cruise control light coming on ALL BY ITSELF.

Toyota better figure this out in the next 30-60 days or it will devastate them. Hell, I was all set to buy a Prius. Not now.

Not to mention they stole some of the technology for the Prius: http://www.wired.com/autopia/2010/07...rinsky-toyota/

I don't use cadence on any bike (have 2 wireless bikes, 1 wired bike).

In fact, the only function I really care about is the clock because my neighborhood Italian deli closes at 3PM on weekends and I like to get some eggplant parm. after my weekend rides.

All the other stuff isn't anything I don't know already (too fat for this sports, too slow for this sport).

Tulex 07-22-10 05:38 PM

Hey pCad, why are you so old?

heckler 07-22-10 05:39 PM

my garmin 305 has a wireless cadence on both bikes, prior to that I had a double wired cateye.

Cadence specifically I find the most useful on the trainer. I do cadence intervals (1 min @ 80, 1 min @ 110 etc etc.)

As far as knowing people on BF. I regularly ride with one guy from the forums (steelycan?) He is on road but not in this thread. And have met/seen some of the 33ers at races. If Doomstock ever happens we will see Pcad in all his delusional glory.

The Joule 2.0 is 1/3 the size of the Joule 3.0 that goes on stationary bikes. Google it.

I dislike him now, but I'd love to see him crush the TT and get on the podium. It's confusing. Like when Jordan put on the 45.

patentcad 07-22-10 06:42 PM

I think the treatment of Contador last year revealed the dark side of Lance. That sucked. Hard.

Oh well. Only my dog Sam is perfect.

heckler 07-22-10 06:49 PM

Armstong came back when sastre won...He could beat those guys. The AS and AC show up and it all went downhill...too bad.

It actually would have been really interesting if there were no crashes and AC and AS were out. The competition would have been huge.

gsteinb 07-22-10 06:51 PM

That Strickland books tells an innerrsting, albeit biased version of that. Although he does have moments of sanity when he (strickland) admits it must be hard to trust your team when it leaks they're all leaving
