But then again, $80 could be spend of stuff like new tires, or tyres.

Trust me on this. Another $200+ assessment to NY Sales Tax today. The problem is they are absolutely correct. The part they don't seem to get is that when the collection of a tax is largely dependent upon taxpayer voluntary compliance, pissing off those payees with unreasonable penalties is probably a bad idea, since it would be so easy to stop collecting said tax, and still remain in full compliance with the law. Let alone those who just stop complying, good luck catching all of them. Not that I would ever actually contemplate such an illegal move.

Maybe they should ask the friggin Russians about what happens when a tax system has no voluntary compliance. It's hard to run a government without money. And there aren't enough auditors on the planet to compensate when that happens.

By the way, this recent error does appear to have triggered an automatic audit of 10+ years of quarterly sales tax returns. They found one $17 error over those 40+ returns. They billed me for that too. Friggin aholes that they are.

I like how they make it so easy to forget to file. I don't collect, so I file once a year. If you forget, you have to file more often, and there is a fine. So now I have my quickbooks set to remind me big time.

Unless you have lived in NY and done business in NY, you could never understand what a bunch of Aholes run NY. And the only thing bigger than the bunch of aholes running NY is the pile of **** they heap on us. Aholes.

just that it's more likely to slip and get banged and more debris on the road.

I forgot this time, the FIRST time I've been late in 10+ years, because they decided to stop mailing out the return forms. So this time I forgot and filed 8 days late. $5000 in sales tax due, 8 days late. $700+ in penalties. Do the math. If a loan shark charged that much he'd be committing a felony.

Usury is legal if you break the rules. Next time mark your calendar so that your due date coincides with the Mets' implosion into the lower rungs of MLB mediocrity.

You're the smartest guy here after me.

Happily, I remain the most handsome. And soon I will be the skinniest as well, your waif-like visage notwithstanding.

Why would anyone tell those morons anything? Besides, they already know everything. In that sense, they have much in common with my 16 year old.

It's a money game to them. Regular filers don't tend to forget. Yearly filers tend to have zero tax due. So, the state makes no money off of yearly filers. So, they don't do a thing to remind us. Nothing. Then, when you forget, it's a minimum of $50 fine. So, they get money they normally wouldn't have.

Thanks, but I'm pretty dumb but not that dumb...

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Pcad does this.

I would avoid the 50% off pre-packaged sashimi. "It's not taste great."

He'd fit right in that A&S thread about helmets.

Building a bike around a set of bars, I love it! It's like my friend who built his bike around a carbon stem he acquired...

Tulex 07-22-10 01:21 PM

There is a fly in my office. He has a death wish.

Tulex 07-22-10 01:48 PM

He brought his stupid friend. I granted both of their wishes. Stupid elitist flies.
