But does it corner like it's on rails?

Rear triangle isn't nearly as vertically compliant as the Six13, but this bike is lighter and it does climb better. The Six13 was starting to feel a bit mushy to me at times. This bike feels too stiff. I'll get used to it. It really takes me a month to figure out if I like a bike.

Below is my quote from 1/27/10 about how uncomfortably stiff Scotts tend to be. Should have listened to me about that as well as going with Sram. With you history of back issues, I think you should put that thing on Ebay tomorrow. That bike won't likely get easier to ride. I know of what I speak.

Did you test ride this frame? It is light but horribly harsh. That is the tradeoff with some of the really light carbon frames. You should have looked into the Giant TCR equivalent with Sram Force. Glory Cycles has CR1 frame on sale for $1300. Nice bike. This Giant is BOSS. IMO

I wonder if it's even possible for an individual to order from them...

I know they've been selling frames directly off ebay. I do not know if they still list there. The price would if still around be very good!

As for the quality of the frames, I have no first hand knowledge, but know there's been mixed reviews....As with any other frame.

Yes indeed. And it climbs like it's on steroids too. Stiffness is trait I think I can adapt to. It's mushiness that I don't like. Like I said, for me a real evaluation takes weeks of riding. I have generally never liked a new bike much on the first ride. This falls under the 'We Fear Change' category. There were things about this bike today that I really liked and differences between this and my other bikes I didn't like, but over time I find that I tend to like a new bike more and more.

That good climber thing can go a long way with me, I do a lot of climbing around here, and the uphill sections of most group rides are often the key places where you put up or get shelled.

That new Ultegra is the bomb by the way. Very impressive.

By the way, taking a bicycle out for a first ride on the Nyack Ride is like Boeing doing the first flight test of the 787 in air combat over Iran. Bad idea.

I just got some new psimet wheels a few days ago. Maybe I should post a thread.

logdrum 02-14-10 01:08 PM

Pcaddy,

You really need to live and ride in any of the mountain states or out west to really feel what epic climbing is. When I lived in Vermont and did the multi-gaps I though that I knew climbing. I had to go back to square one when I got back here. Do what CDR does, cycling vacations where the hills are.

Again nice bike. It will be the A Bike, maybe with a DI2?

logdrum 02-14-10 01:11 PM

Why is Subaru-monger harassing you , P? Are you ghost writing for him so we reach the 10 page pat on your back quota?

I got a taste of Euro climbing in Greece the times I went there, believe me. LOTS of climbing.

The Addict won't displace the S2. S2 is a better bike.

AlexTaylor 02-14-10 01:20 PM

Pcad, my 58cm S2 Frame was 1120g...

I never crashed in Greece. I crashed between Potsdam and Berlin. And that road is flat as a pancake. To this day I think it's quite possible I was rear ended on my bicycle by a car. I'll never know, I have no memory of the incident thanks to being knocked cold and sustaining a concussion. The mountains in Greece were impressive, 2000 vertical foot/6+ mile passes.

is there some kind of test for stiffness like stand here and push there kind of thing. i keep hearing people say this is more stiff than that and i really can't tell the difference on my 2 road bikes.

This Addict is the stiffest frame I've ridden. You can feel it the instant things tilt uphill. Amazing climber.
