Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

GPS tracker app for Blackberry needed

I saw in another thread where someone uses an app called GPS Tracker. the only software by that name I could find at download.com was for the iphone, not the BB. Does anyone use a GPS tracker app on their blackberry for cycling that provides altitude, speed, distance and in the end provides a map or data document that i can review my ride with ?

thanks in advance.

Go take a look at www.crackberry.com and/or www.blackberryforums.com

They will be able to get you going.

I use one called sportypal, you have to go the there web site to get the app.https://www.sportypal.com/. My friend uses one called Sanoodi, you can get that one from app world or there web site. https://www.sanoodi.com/ They are both free. Hope that helps you out.

Out of all the free BB apps for GPS tracking that I have used personally; I use GPSed for blackberry, its simple and track pace/mph/dst/time. Pretty much what you need. The .gps file can be converted to a .gpx file which can be uploaded to mapmyride.com for easy workout/ride import. I recommend GPSed as a free BB app.

Whether you can use GPS on your Blackberry depends on whether your carrier is GPS capable, as well.

I use all sports GPS on my BB, works great. the website is Trimble OUtdoors... so if you're into trip planning on your computer, they have a different product.

Here's a ride I did the other day for reference:

If you service provider is Verizon be careful they block the GPS on many phones so bike application might not work.

Crackberries seem to be enabled with Verizon. At least my Tour is.

my Curve and Pearl only let the built-in, sucky Blackberry Maps access the GPS. I've heard that Storm is more open; maybe Tour is too
