I had 30min for lunch at the 4hr mark.
Testing out nutrition mainly today. I've been using Hamer perpetuem which worked very well for about 6hrs and then I get bloated and nauseous.
Today I went with bananas, snickers bars, cliff bars, cashew nuts and muesli bars. Worked well.
Oh, and a fantastic toasted sandwich at the flying tea room in mangaweka

Tonight I build my new front road wheel, then packed up my studded-tire mountain bike with a load of groceries and did a 45-minute route home. It has a decent climb (350ft vertical), followed by a sandy dirt road, an icy descent, and then paved arterials: https://app.strava.com/activities/4058562
With the added weight of the groceries, the bike was probably about 50 pounds. I gave the big climb a solid effort, but caved about 2/3 of the way up and had to downshift. The sandy dirt road was truly just as difficult; the wet sand was like riding in glue (if it had frozen, however, it would've been very fast).

Me and about ten certified hardmen did a couple hours in light rain at about 38°F/3C: https://app.strava.com/rides/4077187 I felt pretty good considering I don't especially like being wet and cold. Things got feisty toward the end with a city-limits-sign sprint on the line. I wasn't sure where it was, but that was fine, I just rode fast and enjoyed some good time on the front.

Did the club ride like usual today. It was my first time climbing Deer Creek Rd.. It's an average of a 11.4% grade with sections of 16-20% for 2.25 miles, worst part is that you have to climb another road right after doing that. Fun ride, but I was beat by the end.

First ride over 30 miles this year. Temperature finally getting to a level where I am not forced homeward by feet that feel like blocks of ice. It was still cold, but frostbite wasn't imminent. Enjoyable ride, but roll on the springtime. Will be so nice when I don't need to spend all that time putting on such an insane amount of clothing before a cycle.

Long slow endurance ride with a couple guys: https://app.strava.com/activities/4112217 59 miles, 4hrs 40min, 3165ft climbing, and this was on the studded-tire mountain bike loaded out to 50 pounds, about 30% dirt roads. Several miles of the dirt section was mud-bogging on an unimproved summer road (the other guy to do that leg with me had a CX bike). After that, I rode another ~4 miles to a buddy's house and picked up a wheel he needs worked on, then rode home with a wheel strapped to my pannier
I think I'm ready for lunch now

I set out around 7PM to climb lots of hills. I was successful https://app.strava.com/rides/4147556
So it ended up being approximately a metric century, I got home a bit before midnight. The stats are not bad considering it's THIS bike, 45 pounds with 4 quarts of drinks (which I drank all of), studded tires, and enough air drag for two bikes:

Not todays or Garmin, but seeing if link will work
I am trying an app on my phone called endomondo. I like it, just seeing if the link works. I dont need a ton of feedback after my ride, so it does enough for me.

I took a rest day yesterday and went out tonight after work for more frigid road-grinding on the studded-tire mountain bike. 2:29, 15.8mph average, 1636ft ascent, roughly 32F/0C.
https://app.strava.com/rides/4194673
My legs were a bit dead, maybe because I had to settle for two pieces of toast for breakfast... it never helps to start "in the hole" on energy. I still placed 5th on the leaderboard for the big climb, it'll be fun to try that on a bike that isn't 30% of my body weight someday.
On the outbound leg, I had a slight tailwind and felt like I had a tempo, but I paid for it on the way back, you know how that goes Anyway, I cut the ride shorter than intended since my feet were uncomfortably cold and my energy level was down.

Tonight was a short ride, 21 miles and 1100ft ascent on the studded-tire mountain bike again. I went up Carnahan, which was really NOT a good idea... two-way traffic at 30mph/50kph with no shoulder in most places. And it maxes out at about a 14% grade, but even the level sections had more traffic than I felt like dealing with. Live and learn...

Legs didn't feel too great, I'm probably overtraining a bit for February.

Today I rode with a clubmate and used an actual road bike (what a concept!). We went out to one of our largest nearby climbs, then fought blustery winds for a while out on the rolling plains before turning downwind for home:
https://app.strava.com/activities/4272683
About 45 miles, 18.4mph average, and I moved up the Strava leaderboard a couple notches for the big ascent, although I wasn't feeling particularly efficient or fast this time (having 20 pounds less bicycle weight was bound to have some effect).

Did the local club ride, A couple of us decided to add in another loop of climbing. I was NOT ready for the ride and I started cramping going up rockstore(last climb), but still managed to finish.(barely)
Lessons learned:
1. Cold pizza is NOT a good pre ride breakfast
2. Always bring more food that you need.
69.4 miles
7,708 ft elevation gain.
https://app.strava.com/activities/4275712
Strava is not showing the correct elevation because I used my phone to track me. This elevation^^ is correct.

Beautiful weather for a ride, but got cut short by a flat tire. Got it fixed up on the spot, but dang pump can only inflate enough to get me home. Even with the flat, though, this is my 3rd longest ride (keep in mind I'm new, and out of shape).

Should be nice tomorrow, so I'll try again after using the compressor tonight.
