Not filmed by me, but some video from our ride Saturday. 46 miles, 8100ft climbed. A LOT of local 20%+ climbing, very little fun descending. Most climbs we went up were too steep/broken pavement/technical to have any fun on the descents. The one fast descent shown is Mt. Umunhum; you have to go around gates to get to that road, so no cars. I'm in the white with blue sleeves. The climbs hurt worse than they look on video. |

Is that possible? Being a flatlander, I cry on false flats...watching those climbs made me want to draw up a will...
There were about 6 or 7 sections like this yesterday. http://www.strava.com/segment_efforts/1746466 Like climbing a ladder. Walking in deep snow with cinder-block feet. |
Ouch

Wow that looked rough. Hope there were no severe injuries.
|
damn umd. I've seen some dangerous "worlds" but y'all might have them beat. I'm guessing that road is very lightly traveled? You guys spend an awful lot of time left of center.
The speed differential between you and the guy you hit was incredible, it's like he was standing still. |
Wow I love car racing and the last video form Steelerhoo is definitely at Mazda Laguna Seca :D
My favorite track by far! Edit: Watched a little more and I saw the sign lol w/e still an awesome track |
that Steeler video is ridiculous. Putting down what's a good sprint for many people, out of every. single. corner. And still getting dropped.

Holy crap umd. That's one of those videos that is cool to watch but I hope I never end up with one of my own. How hurt were you guys and how were the bikes?
|
umd, that crash was nasty, I hope you heal fast. What I notice in sprints is that you always have to pay attention not only to riders swerving/maneuvering to take a line and, in this case, to lead out guys in front sitting up.

UMD, That looked like my crash earlier in the year.... hope everyone is ok!
As far as everything else goes, looks like a normal sprint. Actually, it looks really smooth and safe. cdr |
Finished up a clip. A few more to go I think. New Britain Crit, the Tuesday Night World Championships, Palomar/Wohlford descents (not HD), maybe some vehicular motorpacing. I have footage from past years to edit too but they aren't in HD.
I criticize a bit more readily in this clip for some reason, probably because it's more obvious, even on cam (which hides a lot of subtleties). Enjoy cdr

Text is here. I felt really good, but I didn't want to ride for myself. Worked hard for my teammate. Ends up a guy that raced at Bethel in the Spring Series (and almost won the Cat 5 overall) won the race. Very smart, savvy racer, and a good rider, really smooth/steady. I make a couple comments on riding in the field. Video: And, no, don't feel the need to comment. It's okay if you just view :) cdr |
Last week's race (posted in the road race section as well).
Filmed via my go pro on my handle bar. |

Woo, the credits were a bit slower this time. I could read them without pausing. :D I couldn't believe that guy swerved around the manhole cover. You're not cornering over it.. just go straight over, dude!
The swerving really annoys me (can you tell?). It's really dangerous. This rule applies on group rides as well as races. Part of the reason I do these clips is to try and spread knowledge on what to do and what not to do. This is one of those "not to do" things. cdr |

From Jeff, the guy that I made initial contact with: "I still don't blame anyone. crashes happen..." From Dan, the guy who went down hard and went to the hospital: "Many thanks for posting the video. Looked at it frame by frame and confirms what I remember. Important considering I don't remember anything post-crash. I'm dumbfounded by the comments posted. Don't pay the antagonist haters any mind. The cause was and is pretty obvious. Hope you are feeling okay..." |
cdr, great video as always.
SteelerHoo, I really want to race the Sea Otter classic some day. Racing on Laguna Seca looks like a blast! Are you from Pittsburgh by any chance? |
Here is two vids of me riding on my trek 1.5

I was watching a video from a race that I was in. As i was watching I was thinking 'who's the loser with his seat too high?'....uh oh....that's me. all fixed now.
I know this has been posted somewhere....but suggestions on a handlebar mounted camera? |
