I've done that climb and descent so many times I could probably do it blindfolded...

Actually I did it in the dark once, by moonlight

I made this video on Thursday. It's a lot better than my other videos, but it's not HD.

This is the camera mount. Cost 76 cents.

Lastly, for the people uploading their videos to Youtube and use iMovie, do you convert the file so you can upload it to Youtube? I tried to upload my m4v file, but it wouldn't work so I used Vimeo instead.

Nice, ptle. What kind of camera do you have there?

It's a cheap digital camera. Kodak EasyShare M340. When it's in focus it's not bad. I kind of wish I had something that could should HD though.

Seems like he was distracted, didn't turn in when everyone else did, realized he was about to touch, and tried to avoid the wheel in front.

so this is a little old, but I was shown this video in another thread and wanted to discuss it. I have to agree with CDR completely. He gets distracted, finds himself inside of the guy in front, freaks out and tries to brake and move right/behind/outside the rider in front. He does it too hard though and stops turning left, cutting off the guy on his right. If the guy on his right had leaned into him hard I think they might have been ok but he gets knocked off balance.

Cool thread by the way. Glad I'm subscribed now.

Thanks, just doing my part to keep some substance in the 41. I have a bunch of videos I shot recently but have not had time to edit because I was remodeling/cleaning up my house for a "tdf party". I'm all done now, so hopefully I will get to the videos soon. Some cool descending of Mt Tam, crossing the Golden Gate, and riding around San Francisco. As well as some more local rides and descents.

Blackdays 07-23-10 01:03 PM

Looking forward to those videos umd. Keep us posted!

Just want to throw in, I love this thread!! Thanks so much to everyone who has taken the time to video their rides (esp races!!), edit them, and upload them for us!

both are better in HD.

umd 07-23-10 10:39 PM

The Monitor video is nice, brings back memories. You going to do Everest Challenge?

Blackdays 07-23-10 11:07 PM

I'm incredibly jealous of you Californians! We have nothing like that around here. Great video, and the descending was really fun to watch.

I'm definitely going to Stanford for grad school.

superNoid 07-24-10 12:04 AM

Awesome videos Ygduf, NorCal has some amazing scenery. Most of where I ride in SoCal is either trail or beach with a little rolling hills blended in for fun. One day I'll head up north and ride.

edit. What camera is that?

carpediemracing 07-24-10 05:38 AM

I have a slew of videos to edit. This one took 3 long extra days, and I have a feeling I missed a lot. I kept finding duplicate comments (I'd add a comment in, forgetting I already said something similar in a prior comment), inaccuracies (the date was wrong!), etc. The first reiteration had a weird mix of fonts. Although I bought a 1.5 TB drive a couple weeks ago just for these movies, I'm already down to 1 TB left, and I only have a couple projects in place (I have a second 1.5 TB for backups).

I'm also dying for new music that fits my personality/style/etc. I'm trying to use new bits from my brothers' bands, but since they're long extinct (one ended 20 years ago, another 24 years ago, etc), it's not like they're writing new songs.[QUOTE=carpediemracing;11166919]I put this here as well as the ride video thread because the feedback is a bit different.

We wanted to work for Cliff, who led me out at the last Bethel and helped me win the Series that day. The other guy is SOC who helped me throughout Bethel. We seem to trade off working for one another.

For reference sake, here's the Bethel video where Cliff helps me out with a strong leadout under a lot of pressure:

Scary to see the disparity in talent between the Bissell guys driving the pace, who were about to peak for the Tour of California, and everyone else.

Scarier to think there's a decent gap between the Bissell guys and Pro Tour riders.

This is one of those courses where two tight corners means that regardless of pack position, you are basically riding watt-for-watt with the leaders at the front. Unfortunately.

yeah. requested days off work for it. if I don't die on my first road race, I'll be there.

umd 07-25-10 12:21 AM

Just a taste of my trip, the "descent" down Lombard St.

Kneez 07-25-10 12:27 AM

I was more impressed by your ascent before you got to Lombard Street. There is no way I could climb such a grade at that speed.

umd 07-25-10 09:23 AM

Crossing the Golden Gate. Should be done processing in a few minutes, but I'm heading out now for a ride so I can't wait for it...

mike868y 07-25-10 09:48 AM

umd, what is all that ambient noise that the camera is picking up?

VA_Esquire 07-25-10 11:52 AM

that noise must of bothered the hell out of you. I only got a minute in before pressing mute, lol

Blackdays 07-25-10 12:00 PM

Going down Lombard st. while it's wet must be a nightmare.

umd 07-25-10 12:42 PM

Sorry about the noise, I think its a combination of the wind and my nokons banging together/against the camera.
