Completed my first Century

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Completed my first Century

Participated in my first century run today. Relatively flat ride, finished in 6 1/2 hours. I felt really good for the first 60 miles averaged 17 -19 mph. 60 - 80 slowed 15 mph. Last 20 miles was painful at 12 mph. I was really feeling in the legs the last 20 miles, but I pulled through.

I had an absolute blast and can't wait for the next one. All in all great day.

It's more than just a number. There's such a sense of accomplishment with this, both physical and mental.

I have to be more clear......

Total ride time was 6.5 hours
Total time with breaks was 7.5 hours

I had a total of 5 rest stops.
Hydration was good, had (1) bottle water/hour on average
The rest stops were stocked with plenty of nutrition. I a couple of bananas, 3-4 protein bars and some almonds throughout the day.

The temp was not bad 75 - 80 all day. slight wind

I was worried about how I would feel the next day, surprised that I feel pretty good. Not real sore at all.

Picture of the route. Started at Griffith Park, down to Long Beach, over to Seal Beach then back to Griffith Park.
