BMC Bicycle Obituary
RIP - 2009 BMC Team Machine SLT01 - March 11 2010 to July 20, 2010
She met her death very suddenly in her short life. A car had stopped in front her after making a hasty left turn. Travelling at 20mph, the quick steed had no chance to stop and thus collided with the Mazda CX-7. The cause of the whole incident was most likely a hurried driver not paying attention and wanting to go in front of the steed - not so, for she was fast and elegant. She was beautiful and powerful. She had the approval of many riders from the gaze of their eyes and the lust in their hearts. Unfortunate then, that she had yet to find out her potential having only run 5 races this season.
Her diagnosis is a cracked joint where the headtube and the downtube meets. This makes her unrideable. The fork didn't fare any better after having been tested - it croaked by making a popping noise. The only repairable piece is the Reynolds front wheel. But alas, the rest of her organs will be transplanted to the new skeleton where her spirit will hopefully reside for a very long time.
Visiting hours will be limited once the owner decides what to do with the broken skeleton. Perhaps hung on the wall, or framed in a frame - to live on longer than when she was on the road and be admired once again.

Too bad, so sad.
She was just a pup.

Thanks for the condolences, guys.
The driver doesn't know yet - not until I know exactly the replacement cost. The EMS crew knows roughly and they were floored.
I'm in contact with the insurance company and i have yet to get the last number which matters most - and what frame may come my way.
Stay tuned...

Would you please record the conversation with her when you are telling her that the frame replacement is x amount of money? I bet the chick will freak out and will try to get out of the problem...
Stil dont understand so well what happened, the chick just cross you and you crash her? Or she just crash your car and the bike was smashed?

Btw, CC just posted on Facebook that they are selling a fully-blinged Team Machine for $4600 (regular price $7000). A customer return after 100 miles b/c it didnt fit.

I did a bit of research and found out the possibility of getting an SLT, but for retail. (Not sure if they have any in stock.) However, BMC may come back to me and say "we'll offer you the SLR" as the frame replacement since the SLT is out of production.
So what do you think? If it came to a choice between the two, should I choose the SLR over the SLT?
Has anyone had riding experience with the SLR01?

I'm wondering about the ride qualities. I've read a couple of reviews and it was stellar (as were the SLT's). I'd like to know the comparison between them.
