Odd, mine came with a Prologo. Which is comfortable and fits but I think the cutout is part of my leg numbness issues. That sounds backwards but the cutout isnt stiff enough to not flatten under even light weight.
So I'm thinking about something without a cutout. |
Looks like a nice outcome on the build 2ndgen. Isn't it funny how once you start "upgrading" how the budget goes in the toilet. When I built my bike I ended up about 3K over budget and could have bought a higher end bike with the excess, but like you say, it'll coet to upgrade.

Tell me about it. I never intended to go this far with it, but with every upgrade, it was like I had a different bike. The CAAD has to be the most upgraded entry-level frame in the world (though, I wouldn't call it entry-level outside of price). I already have the build list for my next bike. I have plans for an EVO...buy the lowest model along with a CAAD10 frame (Team Colors), build a 13lb EVO, use the take-off parts and put those on the CAAD10 and see if I can get a 16lber there. But, that's going to be for the Autumn. For the next 2 seasons, I don't want to even think about upgrading anymore. I've got some tuning to do the CAAD, but that's it pretty much. The build is over. She stands at 15.87lbs. Now, all that's left is to dial her in some and detail her, take out out and get some awesome pictures, put my accessories back on her (bag, pump, bottle cages/bottles, computer) and ride her well. |

So I'm thinking about something without a cutout. Specialized, Bontrager and Fizik have saddle testing programs. Look into those. Good luck. :) |

3T Fork. Sick wheelset! Hollowgrams? Damn! Weight? Build list? I guess, as it stands mid-16 to high-17lbs? http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...4&d=1330135772 |

I have posted this bike here before, but recently replaced the Columbus noodle with a 3t Pro, and 36 granny gear from 34, and Fizik carbon post. I am waiting on some more things from overseas. I had a dream about cruising around with a Wound-up carbon fork, the anodized one. I have never seen a Wound-up on a caad9...

I'd venture a guess about a pound south of that
No pressure. Okay, I can wait. :D |

I was never a big believer in the "I'll buy now and upgrade later" strategy. I bought the frame below with the intent to build it exactly as I wanted from the start. Yours did turn out nice though!
I got my CAAD9 "bike" for about $100. less than a frame. Sold off the parts I could and took the price down to $600. Gosh CAAD's look so right with deep carbon wheels! :thumb: |
Those Super Record builds look SICK! And I mean "sick" in the good way... Wow!

Just got Campagnolo Chorus 11 installed, and I'm very pleased. Got back from a 15 mile ride (cut short due to rain) and it was very solid. These are far and away the best feeling hoods to my hands. They curve in to perfectly match the contour of my grip and are just wide enough to provide plenty of support. The click of the levers really provides incredible feel. It reminds me of the late 80's keyboards where you could really feel the action. The thumb shifters take a bit of getting used to, but as many have said are nothing like Sora. Shifter throws are very short and fast. It still needs some dialing in to get the upshifts working, but I can't wait to get out on a full ride tomorrow. Just about the only criticism I have is the hole that goes all the way through the crank. Seems like that's going to get dirty and have to be cleaned frequently. But I do think it's one of the best looking groups around.
Channeling my inner 2ndGen, I present the photo bomb (albeit with clearer pictures). Now I'm off to post them in every thread I can. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7179/6...8fe1e265_z.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7040/6...936a965b_z.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7064/6...b1f83c20_z.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7061/6...d423479c_z.jpg |

Yeah, but they ride like crap when there's any wind! Very stiff and silky smooth with those Vittoria tubies, but I still can't wait to get a Powertap G3 hub built up with a nice box section alloy clincher for the every day riding.
I couldn't have a better custom set built for the money. They've been great performers doing what they are designed to do without giving me any headaches and I can count on thousands of miles of reliable service from them. I have to admit, getting a set of 58mm CC's would be mostly for aesthetics for me. It's nice to have options. :D |

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7179/6...8fe1e265_z.jpg Edited to add: I speak of the open crank axle from experience as I have one on one of my bikes and have NEVER needed to clean anything out of it. A dust cap would just add unnecessary weight. |
3 campy equipped caad9s on one page... you guys are killing me. i would love to hang my record 10 group on a silver one.
alpha, i vote you go with red cable housing and black tape next time. |

Funny story - when I went to load it up in the car to take it home, I went to the brake to open the quick release and saw nothing. I had to use my phone to learn how to use the quick release at the shifter, just push the pin in and it takes tension right off the cable - Genius! Very clean and elegant, no plastic levers to flip or stick out from the brakes.

That's a good idea, I hadn't thought about that. I do think one change I may make soon is adding a black/red Arione CX saddle. Thanks for the kind words guys!
