Nice! I love the black/grey/red color scheme. It's stealth but really stylish. I run the GP4000S as well - mine are staggered though, 25 rear 23 front. You will love them if you haven't used them before, really great tires.

Thanks!! I was trying to keep with the red/black/gray, I kinda wish the letters on the wheel were gray instead of white but I'm sure age and dirt will help with that a little bit.

I had 23mm GP4000s'es on the stock wheels and really liked them. I figured I'd give the 25's a try this time around. I dont think I'll notice a difference but if I do I can always go back since they aren't being used now. (I plan on using those when I use the trainer in the winter)

Are the wheel logos a sticker? I removed the stock ones from my wheels and was really pleased with getting the rims to plain black - took a LONG time with Goo-Gone and a rag though - the glue that Fulcrum used on their stickers is heinous. The result is nice and clean though, and the rims wipe down easier when they get the inevitable road grime.

They are stickers, I was toying with the idea of taking them off and maybe will eventually but I'm not sure.. I really like the red part of it and I'm not sure how it would look if I just left that on.. I'm good with it for now.

Acetone or light/quick action with mineral spirits. You'll also be surprised to see what olive oil or veggie oil will do to most adhesive residues.

I tried acetone, no joy. I have no idea what was on those Fulcrum stickers, but it was stubborn. I didn't have mineral spirits handy but will keep that in mind.

Quick fork question for the CAAD experts--could I swap out the stock fork on my CAAD9 and replace it with the stock fork from a 2011 supersix?

Whats up guys? Avid cyclists here, 18 years old, racer, experienced but my bike just isnt cutting it... im currently on an old Caad Saeco...stiff dont get me wrong but ive been searching for a Caad 10 or 9 when this one came up! It isnt the groupset i want but thats changeable and I already have some ultegra and a little higher compnets...weve settled on a price of 650 and I think its a steal! I will be updating this bike heavily and trying to loose some weight on it and I need a new set of race wheels so.. Tell me what yall think! Im a Caad rider through and through! Awesome bikes!

that's a nice wheelset. how are those archetypes? I havent seen the hard anodized version actually used, but it looks good here.. I'd imagine that it would wear off slower than the normal black, but what do i know..

based on what others have said, they do appear to wear better. Those have somewhere between 1500 and 2000 miles on them

A caad10 frame could be had for about that price, but if you're itching to ride right now, $650 probably sounds pretty good for a full bike.

Well, I was set on a 10 until I really started looking and had trouble finding one...and supposedly the Caad 9 are superb AL machines as welll.

Well, pulled the trigger on Caad 9 today. So far, pretty impressed with weight, stiffness, and response that I'm getting out of this frame. I wouldnt touch the groupset with a 10ft pole normally but thatll be switched off Monday morning by the LBS and get them to look it over as well. The wheels in the first picture are the tankers (shimano rs500 i belive) good trainer wheels for the winter however. Second picture of the Bonny rxl scandiums...good light little all around wheel set. Groupset will take me a few to get up to the durace I would like however I do have some Utlegra shifters, 105 brakes, Bonny carbon crank, Bontrager Xlite bars so Ill upgrade a little. Work in process for sure but it'll be a quick bike for sure!

In have managed to rack up 3000Km on my CAAD10 - having owned it since March this year. I've gotta say, it is a cracker of a bike and it seems that it makes the pain I inflict myself with just that little bit better! Gave it a bit of a scrub up after this morning's local bunch ride and took a couple of snaps.

So yesterday I experienced a "spontaneous failure" of the BB30 bottom bracket. Bottom line, lbs says it's fried and needs to be replaced. I know there has been a lot of discussion about BB30 creak, but has anyone else had this spontaneous failure happen?

A little background: This is a 2013 10 5 that I've been riding since last July. Not sure how many miles as I don't have a comp, but I'd guess around 1500 miles. I've had no problems whatsoever and the bike has been ridden in fair weather until last week. Wednesday I got caught in a storm and was in very heavy rain for the last 10 miles of my ride. After the ride I pulled the wheels, wiped the bike down, cleaned and lubed chain, and put the wheels back on. No noise or anything from the BB30. Yesterday was my first ride since Wednesday and a few miles in there were three distinct ticks per revolution on the BB. I rode a bit further before deciding to turn back as it seemed to be getting worse. By the time I arrived home, BB sounded like rice krispies. Went straight to the lbs and he diagnosed it instantly. "You'll need a new BB" - not covered under warranty unless it's actually the shell in which case they'll replace the frame. He said they've changed quite a few BB30s and only seen the shell bad once. So, $50 for the stainless steel or $250 for the ceramic, and I should have the bike back in a week.

Tech at the shop said it's too soon after riding in the rain for that to be the cause (which it shouldn't be anyway since it's a sealed bearing). He said if the cranks were loose they could cause accelerated wear, but the cranks are snug. So, he said it's just "spontaneous failure". Anybody else experienced something similar? Or have any other theories on what might have happened?

BB30 is very simple, I can't imagine what would cause that. It's essentially just a couple of sealed bearings pressed into the frame. Perhaps a faulty bearing ball has shattered?

Sounds like rain + wave ring issues.

Also, 50 dollars and a week is too much money and time to install a bottom bracket. That's absolutely ridiculous.
