Let me help you out with that by quoting my own post. I have the same bike in the same color scheme.

My $380 ebay CAAD9 frame just arrived and it looks great! It's an 09 CAAD9-7 frame in patriot blue. The seller claimed it had no more than 200 miles on it and I now believe it. The only blemish is a light scratch from the front derailleur clamp. Now I have to decide if I want to transfer over a 10sp Ultegra, 9sp Dura Ace group or start from scratch with Sram Force or Rival.

Trust me. Dura-Ace it.
That frame will extract every ounce of performance out of that groupset.
But 1st, paint your frame BBQ!
:D

I think "dad" would've been a better example.
No room to have it turned around!

with...but they are look Ti Keo Carbon blades so they weigh like nothing...with race wheels it should weigh right at 15 and there is a lot of weight to be lost with things like bars and stem, lighter cables, a new lighter chain

If I apply any power at all shifting from big chainring to small, it's a guaranteed Andy Schleck. I've changed the cable tension and taken it to my wrench who's more than capable, no dice. Short term fix has been a K-Edge chain catcher, long term is a swap to Rival.

Could you (or anyone else who knows) explain to me exactly what's wrong with CAAD10 105? I am still torn between CAAD10 Rival and CAAD105. Will be buying the bike likely tomorrow and if Rival's extra $200 is justified, maybe I'll go that route to avoid costly repairs down the road.

How much are you paying? You shouldnt be paying anymore then around 1300 for the 105 and 1500 for the sram.

$1399 for 105 and $1599 for Rival. I'm hoping that will be with the 10% sales tax included. Comes with lifetime free tuneups. Thoughts? And what about that issue with the 105?

Do the Ultegra 10s x-fer...I was not happy with Rival.

whats wrong with your rival? this is my first bike sram equipped and i love it, no problems changing gears in saddle or out of saddle. i used to have shimano sora's. no comparison except for quality BUT from a technical point of view IMO i think braking gives me more confidence in SRAM because it doesn't have the swivel motion shimano has...(integrated shift/brake sys) plus my hands are small. maybe its a mix up between having small hands or compact handlebars too as i dont have compacts to compare them in both situations...

Nothing's wrong with 105; it's a fine group. It's down to personal preference and weight (the Rival/Force combination is lighter than 105). I rode 105 and then DA7800 on my other bike and have the Rival/Force CAAD10. Personally I find that the biggest difference is the ergonomics of the hoods - I prefer the hood shape, feel of the brake levers along with the ability to "grab" the shift levers on the SRAM hoods better than the Shimano ergonomic. Shifting up the gears is very quick and positive wi SRAM, but Shimano wins the smooth shifting contest hands-down IMO.

You can't go wrong with either - if you're seriously torn, then try to ride both groups and see which feels better. Good luck, you'll love the bike.
