Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The EVO is carbon, not aluminum. So it is not apart of the CAAD clut.

I'm not apart of it, but I'm under the impression that the cult of CAAD is about aluminum matching or outperforming carbon and steel. And Cannondale certainly is one of the best aluminum bike makers, if not the #1.

It should be brought up in this thread that the CAAD 12 will be coming out soon...

Yes the bike shop told me they were pushed back to October at least on the CAAD12. The other 2016 stuff most of it is avail now.

I thought I had joined the cult when I got my EVO but I was quickly told otherwise.

I still keep tabs on this thread because I like to look down on all of these measly aluminum riders from my carbon throne. lol.

It is fairly flat here so I'm not doing any 50 mph descents as far as brakes go.

I was shopping Fuji Altimira but their "Ultegra" bike has less Ultegra parts, and the CaadX is said to have a lot better resale value :-).
Did you ever test-ride the Altimira? I use to have one that served me very well.
Never chose to un-own it. An unskilled driver made that choice for me. (But I made their insurance company buy my Lapierre )

Yes I did, not a bad ride but my general feel was that Fuji uses less of a given groupset than other makers, so I decided to ride some other stuff before making a final decision. The dollars to bits ratio may be just fine between Fuji and the others.

Interesting, my shop in Maryland told me today that 105 and Ultegra CAAD12 would be available on Sept 1.

So of course we have seen the sneak peeks of the new CAAD but now that C'dale put the CAAD on the homepage of their site I am really not sold on any of the pant schemes. The Dura Ace disc version pops and looks nice but I don't want road disc. I think I will wait on the '17 models.

No SRAM disc groupsets on the CAAD12s???? What's up with that? I want Rival22 disc... Oh well, guess I'll keep my old faithful CAAD9-4 for another year (at least)

I like that they didn't skimp on parts as they did in the past. No tektro brakes. The 12-5 actually comes with 6800 FD/RD/Brakes. The only think that's 105 is the shifters and Cassette.

I have a question im planing to buy a Caad 10 but after reading alot of people having issues with the bb30 bracket i mean changing them very often the bearings i kind of turned off by it .

And i did some research and find out that the shimano hollowtech II is a much better design and last longer than the bb30 i know there is a long debate on this i red it already but anyhow seems like the shimano need less maintenance and i saw a conversion kit online to convert to it ofcoure i would need to buy a shimano crankset because of the size the fsa is too big, anybody has done this or what is your honest experience im a very handy guy but i don't want to replace bearings after i got caught in a rain or very often if i can avoid it
some people says after 100 miles they needed to take the bike to the shop.

Appreciate your opinion.

My EVO started creaking around 5000 miles...I replaced the BB (Pressfit 30) and it still creaked. I took it into the shop and they discovered it was actually the crankset that was creaking. I'm not sure what they did, but was told they rebuilt the crankset. It cost me $30. This was a few weeks ago, so I have over 500 miles on the fix and it seems to be holding up.

Personally, I wouldn't let this deter me from buying a CAAD.

The only well known issue with the bb30 is creaking which comes from the bottom bracket bearings. My brand new Caad10 started doing it shortly after I bought it and found the fix here on the forum. The fix is to remove the bearings from the bottom bracket, clean, then apply green loctite to the outer surface of the bearings where they make contact with the frame and reinstall. After having my shop do the fix (no charge) I've been creak free for almost two years. Not sure why manufacturers haven't done this during the initial assembly?

I believe they are doing it now. If you check out the Cannondale tech manuals, they instruct on how to use loctite in the installation. This one's for a PF30, but you get the idea.

Bikes: nagasawa, fuji track pro

in california for the week, peep da boba delivery machine

not much new... i got nokon cables, which creek and suck for that. THe brakes feel better than dura ace cables, but the shifting probably is slightly less. That's about the only mod i've done to the bike in a year lol.... Well i added a mash sf DONUT top cap which is key for motivation actually.

also in other news, i got my cat1 upgrade. The caad10 (or some form of caad10) has been with me since day 1! what a loyal bike!

Nice looking Caad, but I'd be pissed if it fell over into the water, you're a braver man than me!

Haha, nah, it was like 4 feet deep, little water won't hurt, but I would have to take my kit off to fish it out lol

Cannondale has offered to replace my cracked 2008 System Six frame with a free Caad 10 or I can pay $1400 and get a Supersix Evo? I'm a recreational rider who puts in 3000 miles per year. Any thoughts?
