I hope they don't show wear like my black 105's. The paint is chipping.

That's great to hear!

Um, not that I'm happy about them looking bad, but I kept kicking myself
for not buying the 105's which would've looked great on my BBQ frame.
The 105's are beautiful, but painted pedals? Never good IMO.

Being that the DA's are solid carbon, at most, they'll just get scratched up.

I don't know A...maybe a justification for you getting a set of 7900's?

:D

I'm not 100% sure if they are painted maybe powder coat ? I'll snap a couple pics.

Excelsius,

I was just wondering if you can tell me how much you paid for the bike. Tax and location too please.

Sort of a smorgasboard of a bike, but thats prob because I have never bought a complete bike or spent more than 700 dollars in one sitting on bike stuff:

Caad8 R1000 frame 54
3T Funda Pro fork
Ksyrium SL wheels, mismatching.
Krylion tires
Thomson cockpit, with Nashbar saddle and 3T Ergonova bars
Rival Group, minus
7800 brakes
Fizik bar tape
Look Keo 2 max pedals
Did I miss anything???

A few dollars less than $1700, 9.25% tax included. This was in Rialto, about 50 miles from LA. Did you get a better deal? I have seen some guys from NY/Brooklyn post that they got the same bike under $1500.

I paid around $1,660 out the door. That's with the 10% discount and 9.50% Sales tax.

Also, my Discover CC has a promotion right now where they will give me back $150 if I spend $800 in 3 months period. Which I fulfilled in less than 3 days with this purhase!!!

So around $1,550 total!. Which is effin great.

That's almost as good as a picture of a black CAAD in my book! :p

That's pretty good. In my case, I did not go for the cheapest price. This one shop offered me the bike for $1599, tax included. However, I didn't like the shop much. The guy fitting me was from some high school and offered an incorrect size without me even getting on a bike. I figured paying about $90 more was worth it because the owner of the other shop is an older guy and very experienced in racing. But even better, I got lifetime free tuning. Given that around here tuning costs from $50 to $80 (and higher), I figured I couldn't go wrong with that shop. As the bike breaks in, I have already tuned it twice. 10 tunings = $500 value...

And oh yeah, another big factor was that other LBSs told me it would take a month or more to get the bike. This LBS got it for me within a week! Great service all around. Once I learn how to take care of the bike on my own, I can look at the pricing more carefully.

Seriously though, thta's a nice setup. I have the exact same frame as you (BBQ CAAD8 R1000, 58cm). I like how that 3T fork looks on it.

3T...the only "other" fork to be used on CAADs besides Edge/Enve or Cannondale Premium forks.

What say ye?

I know exactly what you mean. I spend atleast 6 months on research in terms of what bike to buy and where to buy it. There is a chain here that is really popular. Not sure if you heard of it. It's called Mike's Bikes. Great customer service. They will let you test bike after bike. No problem. There wasn't much contest between this shop and others in my area.

The other shops I called said I would have to wait atleast 2 months, and there's no guarantees. But at Mike's Bikes, they said in 2 weeks because I wanted the White one, or else the black one is available right away.

I've bought from Mike's Bikes online.
They were great to deal with.
