Any of you guys weigh your OEM Mavic CXP22/C3 Hub Wheelset (if you had this wheelset on your CAAD)?

argh, need to get my hands on a caad10 frameset in anodized black and I don't wanna drop 3-4k on a complete bike and strip/resell :'( has anyone done the math on how much selling everything but the frameset will yield?

I saved a thousand dollars by buying my bike stock, stripping & selling off the OEM bits
(which went in like 2 days here in New York City) and putting together exactly the bike I wanted.

I guess it would all depend on the market where you're at.

My brand new OEM frameset/fork/brakeset/wheelset/tires/tubes ended up costing me only $550.

I just had a full carbon Edge 1.0 fork installed on my CAAD9.
I'll give a ride report on Saturday when I take it out for a spin.
Original fork was OEM Ultra (alu steerer/carbon blades).

If I remember correctly, she was at 18.48lbs before.
She should be in low 17lb range. Hope to hit 15lb range with wheels.

Edge 1.0 Fork (295g uncut...mine is cut VS 567g OEM Ultra).
Dura Ace 7900 Pedals (wash VS 240g Wellgo GR8)
Fizik Cyrano Post (180g carbon VS 280g OEM)
Ultralight CNC brakeset (199g w/pads VS OEM 356g Tektros without pads)

All I need now is that 2000ish'g OEM CXP22's off
my bike and a set of 1330g Soul S2.0's on it.

This may help you calculate your final weight better.
The Souls 2.0s with 4000s, velo plugs and RXL tubes came in at 1892 grms. Add a cassette and that will be your final weight.

Without skewers, my set is about 2800g.
If all I do is swap to S2.0s, that'll be a 2.03lb loss.

Holy poop. That's a lot. Enjoy. I was surprised at how much i lost from just changing wheels, tires, plugs and tubes too, but 2 pounds certainly takes the cake.
Did you get the soul lightweight skewers? They are around 40 grams if i remember correctly. Not bad for an additional 30 bucks.
The stock Soul skewers are not horrible though at 90 grams.

I called my mechanic and asked him to weigh the bike for
me after the upgrades since I couldn't pick it up tonight
(bad rain storm + rush hour traffic = dumb move).

He came back with 18.80lbs.
What! The! Fudge! :notamused:

How did it go "up" from 18.48? Then, I did the math.
I forgot, I put on a much heavier training wheel with a 82g heavier trainer specific tire on it.
The KK Computer alone was 272g and the Radbot 1000 was 113g with the cages coming in at 56g.

So, when all that was taken away, the bike is in the low 17lb range now (17.20 I think).
That means, my wheelset (the last item) will easily get me down to my
target weight while giving me a far better performing bike than OEM'd.
Ok, I'm stoked again. :D

I only want the Souls S2.0's with the gray decals.
I won't hear from Sean on them until after the Tapei Show.
I'll go with the lighter skewers if my bike doesn't get to 15lbs.
I'll definitely consider the Souls first.

I just picked up (not bought, but physically lifted) a 2011 Scott Addict R1.
Just over 14lbs wet. It almost floated up just from me touching it.
I wanted to test it so bad, but knowing I was going to start a new obsession, I "let go".

I already computed my present build (just over 15lbs) with a new CAAD 10 frame to be 300g lighter (supposedly its sub 1kilo right?) and well under the magical 15lbs range... maybe 14.5 or even a little lower.

honestly - i like the novelty of having a sub 15 CAAD aluminum engineering wonder. its a cinch to do it with a carbon frame, but to do it with a CAAD is like a giant FU to the carbon establishment.

Actually, the carbon bike will be for long aggressive rides (fast centuries, etc...).
"If" I get it at 15lbs, that'll be great, but I'm going to shoot more for performance.
If it comes in at over 15lbs even low 17's, I won't care as long as it gives me exactly what I want.

The CAAD will be for under 50 mile hard-charging training rides.
And, it was my "practice" bike for building.
I think the final product will impress.

But ultimately, I built it just for me (FTW). It is a joy to roll.
