What do you do during the winter?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

More like someone wiping your face with a wet sponge.

The only way to get Bailey to bite you is to wrap your hand in the mail and shove the whole thing through the mail slot in the front door. If it looks like the mail Bailey will grab it and bring it to me. Just ask the first time mail carrier who did that when the regular carrier went on vacation. The regular carrier knew Bailey and put the mail in half way and let him pull it in. She neglected to tell the the other person when she went on vacation. The new person used her hand to make the mail stiff enough to open the spring loaded flap. One tooth all the way through a finger. My home insurance carrier dropped me. Now I have a new company, but can't ever get dog bite insurance. New policy $900.00.

The people from the post office are terrified of him and think he will attack them.

Sam doesn't know how to bite people, other animals or even insects.

For the benefit of the non-Brits, this is a rather inadequate piece of plagiarism. Many years ago a Brit politician belittled an opponent by describing his attack as like being savaged by a dead sheep. So even had "gnawed" been spelled correctly, this would have been a rather lame and unattributed misquote. Fail.

Sam would bite that, he would mistake her for food.

I would bite that for other reasons.

I can't think of any quick replies that don't sound disgusting.

Not plagiarism. Inspired by the famous quote but my creative attempt. I won't be getting any offers of speech writing, that's for sure.

Don't need if had been said yet but BF is very active during the winter. That adequately describes our winter activities.

Bikes: Custom. '02 trek 1000 with ultegra and dura ace components. Too much to list... Just ask me

I bundle up and ride like normal. Depending on the temperature that day i may do a shorter ride or may ride during a specific time frame. I ride 12 months out of the year though. Gotta love living in the south =)

My LBS has better sales than Performance sometimes, I got me some Specialized winter gloves for 20 which I think were normally 63

OP is from Boston, so am I. my winter tips:

with the proper gear, I find I'm comfortable down to about 15 degrees. then the real problems become
1) piled snow on the side of the road leaves you nowhere to ride
2) ice

#2 is addressed with studs, as others have said. #1 is a bigger problem IMHO. but there are a couple of routes that are plowed reliably. the best of these is the Southwest Corridor from Columbus Ave down to Forest Hills T.

I renew my membership at a nearby fitness center and do various types of workouts as often as possible. For instance, I train on the exercise bicycles for longer and harder periods of time. If I'm not in the fitness center I walk around the city doing errands or along cleared bike/ped paths. When I'm not in the city, I often go snowshoeing or cross-country skiing.

Bikes: Lots

When I lived in Canada, I walked, cross-country skied, snowshoed, weight lifted, attended spinning classes, attended yoga classes, rode my bicycle inside on the trainer ... and of course rode outside.

Now I'm in Australia. Over the past winter I did a lot of walking, and a little bit of cycling outside, and a little bit of cycling inside on the trainer, and some weight lifting. Toward the end of winter (mid-August) I finally started riding my trainer regularly.

Thank goodness winter is pretty much over and I'm outside fairly regularly now.
