Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Litespeed Siena value?

A friend has a friend who wants to sell his Litepeed Siena for $2000. It is either '03 or '04 frame with newer components.....some new, some not very old. It has Arione saddle, Dura-Ace 7800 components with 12-27 cassette, Ultegra 6600 50-34 crank, Bontrager race xtralight wheelset, Ultegra pedals. I am not certain of the other components. I am going to look at and test ride tomorrow (Thursday). I just wanted to see what ya'll thought about the price. Any constructive replies are appreciated!

i think its a bit much, but not that high.

the used market for high end Ti and Cf race bikes has been very soft lately.

I concur. While he won't have any trouble selling the Siena as Ti Litespeeds remain popular, the prices have softened even more over the past 6 months. I think $1600-1750 is more realistic at this time.

$2000 is his asking price. I was going to see if I could get it for $1800 cold hard cash. Thus the underlying reason for my post. Thanks!

Bikes: Some bikes. Hell, they're all the same, ain't they?

When I sell my bike stuff, I ask a very optimistic price, leaving room to haggle and still be satisfied with what I sell it for. If I were him and asking $2000, I'd probably be happy taking 1800. See what he says.

Another reference point: https://cgi.ebay.com/2004-Litespeed-S...item2eb177a3da

The completed or sold price on eBay is pretty much the market price on the higher end.

Gracias dalava. I imagine that's what the bike I'm looking at tomorrow will look like except bigger (XL). I figure if I can get it at $1800 I ought to be satisfied.
