I've read quite a few posts on Bikeforums saying that Bicyclebluebook values are not realistic. My own expertise is with recumbent bikes and trikes. I've read some listings for them and wondered why they are so far off the prices I see. It's a great place to find the original MSRP for bikes but I wouldn't use it to set a price for one I would be selling. Too much variation for the same bike depending upon where you live and local demand for used bikes.

One would have to see the ad, but I don't think I'd pay $1800 for the bike either. Asking price doesn't always equal selling price.
It is hard to tell how Bicycle Blue Book valuates the used bikes. I have a feeling that they take the MSRP and applies a time based depreciation algorithm.
Unfortunately, not all bikes will depreciate uniformly, and location is also important.
Titanium bikes are still relatively rare, and in good demand, so there may be a bonus that isn't accounted for with Bicycle Blue Book. Wheel upgrades? What version of Ultegra?
I could imagine the bike going for between $800 and $1200. Yeah, a bit of a range.

The big difference between asking price and BBB price is due to BBB giving completely and utterly baseless pricing.
Used bicycles need to be priced with the following in mind
- cosmetic condition
- mechanical condition
- location
- time of year
- local market comparables
Those GREATLY affect price and BB only takes 'condition' into account. Its absurd to rely on such a simple and inaccurate website at this point in time. Its 2017- time for archaic and inaccurate website like this to die off.

Probably 10 speed Ultegra and probably wheels are not 11 speed compatible. Fine to ride but that's a hit to market value. I agree with $1000-$1200 if components aren't scratched up and work well. If seller is original purchaser, he probably paid a lot for the bike and it may take awhile for him to adjust to the actual resale value.

So, Bike Friday bicycles tend to hold their values pretty well as their aren't a lot of them around, and changes from one year to another are minimal.
Titanium still has a following, so I'd presume your Litespeed falls in the same category, although as mentioned, 9s and 10s Ultegra is a bit passe.

If the seller want to get the most value from that bike, he should part it out. The frame could fetch $1000 easy if in excellent condition. The. Just doesn't have to throw away money on obsolete crap. That's what a I paid for my 2007 Merlin frame.

Ok agreed but what is reasonable?
eBay has titanium bikes in soft market as well. Would like to hear what's reasonable. Offered $800 pretty sure I offended the seller. 10 yo bike regardless of components is still 10 yo bike.

You may have offended him, even if you offered the BBB as justification. If so, he may not be inclined to sell to you, regardless. Best to let it sit on CL awhile and let his expectations adjust.

As I said, the frame alone is worth 1,000. Look up Ti frames from respected makers and see what they are going for. Then factor in Ti's longevity and resistance to corrosion and its ability to be surface refreshed with just a Scotch-brite pad. Add in a few hundred for all the old parts, and you can see what the value is.

I rode 23mi today on a 30yo Miyata with 25yo tricolor Ultegra derailleurs, 9sp Ultegra STIs, and a modified compact double from the late 80s. Its my go to road bike.
Everything shifts perfectly, works just how it should, and i am really not missing anything.
It may be a 10yo bike, but its a quality frame so not just some generic 'alpha' aluminum Trek frame.
The components may be older, but if they are in great cosmetic and mechanical condition...then they are of value, even with newer versions available.
The listed rate seems high, sure. How much $ can/would you spend to get a UsA made butted titanium frame with an excellent drivetrain(only 1 cog missing from current generation) and a solid cockpit? Thats how much the bike is worth.
Probably $1300 to me, assuming no changes are needed.
Thats high, yes, but again i dont see much difference between a 10yo titanium frame in excellent condition and a new frame.
Bbb pricing is absurd as the frame and fork alone are worth +/- around that.
