Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I think I had an asthma attack while playing tonight.

It was really scary and I've never had that happen before. Is that possible, for it to just happen out of nowhere?

Being decently athletic I do my best to avoid the rec sports crowd that frequent volleyball courts and softball leagues. Sloshball on the other hand is the great equalizer. Gone is the petty bickering in place of actual ability and in comes the keg to sit in between a kiddie pool with a slide and a slip 'n slide. And lest I forget, every time you make it home there is a mandatory jello shot, second base can only be cleared by slamming a full beer, and the very peak of sportmanship is reached by holding at least one team social an inning out in the field. Of course by the time the sun has set on the days games things have evolved into firelit beer pong and two story tall beer bongs.

We didn't really play a game. We just took turns at bat hitting like 30 balls in a row.

Come to find out not only did the person that built the wheel do a crappy job at building a straight wheel, they also have a problem installing rim tape. After the third flat I found out that there were spoke holes exposed. I think the final flat was caused by a bad patch or bad patch job. I ended up having a buddy to pick up my truck and come pick me up.

How come I get grief for playing a "girls" sport (volleyball), but no one calls Velo Gator out for playing a lesbo sport?

You're talking about the Greek island, right? Didn't know that softball was so big in that part of the world...

I'm sure it's big there.

By the way, I haven't had four flat tyres in the last 15,000 miles. I guess I'm not unlucky.

I guess that hand-builts aren't so great when the hands that built them are connected to an idiot. Ah well, may you roll 2000 miles before your next flat to make up for today.
