Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

After watching a TV station yesterday showing reporters chasing around after the tornadoes, I concluded that people out there are crazy.

In the long run, that was a good loss for D.Rose and the Bulls. MJ missed a lot of game winning/game changing shots in the playoffs before the Bulls won the East.

Let's not let the big picture distract us from what really matters - the Heat need to go down in a ball of flaming misery.

Side note: if the Bulls can't get their act together, and they're in quite the hole, I would really like to see Dirk finally hoist the trophy.

Africa really gives you a lot of perspective.

A lot of things you thought were important really aren't all that important.

I thought you might have become a societal recluse now that Oprah is shutting down.

You see it.

I can't say Africa would be my first choice as a destination, sbxx. There some folks from Zimbabwe that the MIL's church sponsor, that come visit periodically. I don't know how they do it, as there are rarely tales of any type of happiness from them. Even though they are the most positive people I have ever met.

I do hope you all had a good time. Sounds like it was eye opening.

No, but I did see a stray dog's leg get run over by a car. Pretty sure that'll leave a permanent mental scar.

And my wife did get attacked by some guy in the hotel restaurant. Hands around her throat kind of attack. I jacked him up pretty good.

It sounds adventuresome, whatever you were doing.

Of course you don't have to travel far to see this. On Saturday I was riding and noticed a smallish dog in a yard the other side of the road lock in on me and chase, apparently oblivious to the oncoming vehicles. It narrowly missed getting squashed--I don't think the driver even saw it.

People who let their animals run out on the road really irritate me.
