A friends wife is not talking to me because I made a verbal misstep implying her powers in the kitchen were at fault for her husbands midsection growing. She well knew what I meant by it being a front handed insult to what she was trying to do to me with the meal she just put on the table. She just could not let the word insult go though.
That's kind of how I feel about this. I'm pretty sure of what the comparison to the Wizard means. Believe you me I am actually just showing signs of too much restraint in my personal life. A move somewhere less Midwestern is pretty well assured. As a CO native I do not understand how you can live where you do, though. A week around the Eldorado/Boulder area was too much for me. Well, swimming in the park on a Tuesday in the middle of Summer was too much in a good way.

I didn't move to CO because frankly nowadays it is full of self hyping extreme sports wannabes with Spray-arado mindsets. Give me back the mid 70's, nobody appreciates the place but is soon to get John Denver vibe, and I will be there.

Time to come up with an original nickname.
The nickname of:
Seattle, Washington, United States
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Muntinlupa, Philippines
Eugene, Oregon, United States
Greenwood, South Carolina, United States
Green Zone, Baghdad, Iraq
Oracle World Headquarters, Redwood Shores, CA
Syracuse, New York, United States
Wichita, Kansas, United States

You were here living it up John Denver style in the mid-70s? I assumed you were younger.

Not even a twinkle at that point. That environment has a lot to do with the fact that I'm here today though. The only explanation I can offer is the allure of beer, sausages, and pristine rolling countryside with little traffic. MN is overrrun with fakengers on swinglespeeds intent on mating their cause to politics. It was much worse.

Why wouldn't you live somewhere in Chicagoland? If you can ride your bike to Illinois, but still choose to live in Wisconsin, you're doing it wrong.

Would it be the nifty 3 cornered yellow hats they have in Wisconsin that keeps you there, Rando?

Having been to Denver, Fort Collins and Colorado Springs, I'll take that area over where I am now anytime.

I lived in the Springs. Other than Manitou, I thought it sucked. I have good friends that still live there, and generally, they think it sucks. They've been able to rationalize it over the years, although most of them live outside of town. It's not the outdoors that's the problem there.

I have only been a visitor (tourist), so never really got a in-depth feel for the places. However, having the Rockies in the background and all the outdoor activities available nearby is the draw for me.
While the Adirondacks are ~5 hrs away, it's nothing like the Rockies.
