Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I did figure the grey hair thing was in jest, Rando. I was serious about the folks taking care of themselves, though. The cooter thing was a joke as well, of course. Geezer is an attitude, not an age, which I have been trying to perfect for over 50 years. Just saying folks need to listen to their body, and react accordingly.

Thanks, Rando. I like my heavy old sled. As far as I know, slicks of any type on a bike handle rain just fine. Physics and stuff tend to allow that to happen, because they are too thin to hydroplane. I haven't been in the rain with those, but I like the looks of them after a few hundred miles. No cuts, strange wear, or anything to cause alarm.

The Cervelo isn't my responsibility. I just make suggestions. It's at Excel.

I didn't see it up close, but from what he said the vehicle didn't have more than cosmetic damage. Luckily for the car, it hit pliable metal panel rather than an unflexible tree. I assume the building will need a new panel.

You're saying that would be on the property insurance?

She well knew what I meant by it being a front handed insult to what she was trying to do to me with the meal she just put on the table. She just could not let the word insult go though.

That's kind of how I feel about this. I'm pretty sure of what the comparison to the Wizard means. Believe you me I am actually just showing signs of too much restraint in my personal life. A move somewhere less Midwestern is pretty well assured. As a CO native I do not understand how you can live where you do, though. A week around the Eldorado/Boulder area was too much for me. Well, swimming in the park on a Tuesday in the middle of Summer was too much in a good way.

wut

I'm paying attention now, watching where the car is headed. Sure enough, it neither brakes nor turns, but instead crashes unabated into a metal building at the edge of the lot. (about 30-40 yards from my vantage point)

Trying to make sense of what I just witnessed, I look to find what kind of idiot would drive into a building, but I can't see anyone in the driver's seat.

A few seconds later, a guy emerged from the school, looked around perplexedly, and suddenly started running toward the car.

As he subsequently explained, he thought he left his car in "parked," but obviously he had not.

Facepalm o' the day.

Let's discuss. You're a Colorado native living in Wisconsin that loves the Eldo pool in the summer?

I have some dimwit in a big pickup back up into my building weekly. The building is a rock, every car/truck has been damaged.

Not a single person has even tried to make a claim against my property insurance.

I sort of got that too, but I didn't get the part where Rando doesn't get how I could. Then again, I don't really go there, unless a ride takes me near that area.

Rando, I wasn't upset, I just didn't get the #38 ref, I'm tired just got off work, I started wondering if I needed to look for post #38 or a rule book with 50 rules in it.

What shop, you've lost me again?

I got rollers and you don't nanabooboo!!

(maybe I should make more use of the smilies?)

I guess it depends on the minimum requirements of the state for insurance. Some auto liablity policies don't cover squat.

Weren't you the person who kept slipping on the ice? The only time I see people on ice here is in the ice rink, and I'm not in a position to laugh at others when I'm worried about my own wellbeing.

miyata man, where do you want to move?

Hahaha, talk about an abnormal thing to elect to do to that place. 5 miles of dirt road to get to an upscale private community outside the gates of a national park. What possessed them to build that pool opposite the gates of the park? There is very little traffic other than the stream of children in SUV's. One imagines this both pays for and skirts a number of costly violations the locals refuse to change their town for.

I meant a long day of playing on rope swings and swimming in the river at the park in Boulder. Talk about a party. Thousands of people and there was never a lack of room to start a game of some kind without bothering anyone. That was some piece of city planning. The rest of the town holds nothing for me and I know way too many people in the Fort Collins/Boulder area.
