Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Isn't that a winter project?

You spent all the jones discretionary money on the puppy? I thought you were thinking about getting a new bike.

In my humble opinion, a dog is a far better investment than a bike.

These things are all true.

I have since generated some additional rjones28 discretionary money. A portion of these newly-earned riches can go toward bike schwag. Not enough for a new bike (at least not the sort have in mind). Therefore, I will rehab my rusty old Schwinn. Soon it will be a shiny old Schwinn which will keep me happy through this cycling season.

There is a bike shop in Syracuse that paints frames. I am checking them out.

Most of it was on a MUP, except for the hill climb portion of the ride, which was country roads. Then back in on a 2 lane highway. At 2am those roads see practically no traffic, and the Light, and Motion HID headlight I was using is almost as bright as the second coming of Christ. So it wasn't so dangerous. It was kind of a impromptu ride. My friend mentioned he wanted to go for a night ride sometime soon, so I said give me a a few hours for the light to charge.

Ah, I see. A few weeks ago someone was trying to tell me that there's a MUP in Ohio that goes from Cincinnati to Columbus, or some absurd distance. That's crazy talk.

Our little MUP is only 18.4miles here. The good thing is, it is a great shortcut to the hilly areas around here.

I dunno, I usually don't watch the news on my days off. If there are fires or bad weather related stuff my grannie calls me.

Sunday's race (11th out of 38) I broke away for a quarter lap lead for 3/4 of a lap and in general wish it was faster, but it was enough to shake off some people. The end I picked a terrible wheel (the guy was going to lead out and looked strong, but when he realized I was behind him and not his teamate he sat up)

Todays run with the wife (first day out in about 3 weeks for either of us [she had a foot injury and I was focused on bike stuff])
