Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

cycleops fluid 2

Hello,

I currently have an old tacx satori which is very noisy, anyone that has a fluid trainer like cycleops fluid 2 , is it less noisy ? Also fluid 2 doesn't have any way to control the resistance levels, how can you simulate a climb ? Thanks

What do you mean they leak ? Is it so easy have a dead trainer after while ? If I just change gears I will be able to achieve the correct resistance in spinervals workouts ?

fluid trainers leak the fluid that creates the resistance for the trainer. (Dont worry it will take quite a few years of intense use). also unless you're a god u will not be able to spin your biggest gear for more than a minute or two on a fluid 2.

I love my Fluid 2 (as much as you can love a trainer). You increase resistance by shifting, just like on the road.

The Fluid 2 has had a history of leaking, but the trainers have a lifetime warranty.

Another option to consider is the Kurt Kinetic Road Machine. Same deal, except it's less likely (if not impossible) that it will leak. A little pricier on average.

I think high visc fluid is the opposite of what you should use.

True so far. My first gen Fluid failed due to leak or bad impeller, can't remember which. My Fluid 2 is still going strong after several years. But it's not like I have hundreds of hours on it. The lifetime warranty gives me peace of mind. It's a very good trainer.

Oh, and the Fluid 2 is relatively quiet. The bike/drivetrain make all the noise.

Kurt Kinetics machines can't leak. They are guranteed for life not to leak.

Kurt Kinetics seems nice but I can't find where to buy it in Europe.

Cycleops has a nice deal in amazon uk.

Thanks for the replies.
