MY 16.5lb Nashbar Frame budget Ultegra build.... curious to know how much you spent on yours....

In size 58, the all aluminum Nashbar frame weighed 3.44 lbs, and the aluminum with carbon rear triangle weighed 3.26 lbs in identical size. So less than 1800g but more than 1200. If that helps.
|
Oh that's better than I thought. Sounds like it'd be safe to assume the 60 is in the 1600 range then, not terrible.
|
iirc my all aluminum 58cm nashbar frame was south of 1600g with the hanger

Nice! I followed yours when you were building it up, not to many publicized nashbar builds. I'm at realistically about 1300 right now, primarily from my recent jump to sram 10 from a shimergo 9 setup. I have the weights of everything but for some reason didn't weigh the bare frame before I built it up, I believe it's in the 1800g range. Which tempts me some times to get any random 12-1300g frame and be in the 14s, but I just plain have fun on this frame. I'm all legs so the short TT works well for me. More than likely I'll keep riding this for another year or two and go custom steel at that point, since it'll likely be the same weight, if not a hair lighter haha.
Either way, I'm happy with the Nashbar frame now, and I'll continue riding it hard! It's cool to see other people's Nashbar builds here too. Thanks for sharing. |

son, you need some black cable housings, lose the confetti bar tape, and put that stem on the top cap where it belongs.
then it'll be hot. |

Very nice. I didn't have a scale when I first bought my Nashbar frame, but I got the 50cm so I'm guessing it's not as heavy as I orignally thought. I have the same mentality as you to upgrade to something lighter eventually, but like you, I am having a ton of fun on this frame too! It's been a blast to ride so I figure I might just run it into the ground and then upgrade from there. A decent carbon frame would drop this bike into the low 15s.... that'd be nuts. Or I was also looking into Ti and custom steel but I don't think I'd have as dramatic weight savings...

Here is my road bike: 2011 CAAD10-5 It has 105 components with ultegra wheels and chain. I paid $1400 for it, i have so far 4 miles/per dollar value out of it.
