What can I say, the frame is incredibly beefy.

Thanks for posting this. I had been thinking about going with a white stem on my Colnago. After seeing this I realize that a white stem and black seatpost just doesn't work.

LOL, wow. hey the white wrap and stem with the white logos looks good in my book. not sure about the implication of white stem and white seat post. if you stare at anything long enough with a critical eye it can look jacked up somehow.

"Boom" era Follis - just built it up this week.
Tubulars, Campy NR derailleurs, MAFAC racer brakes, Wrights saddle.

Just as a hot or not standard, your picture really sucks.

Fantastic paint scheme. How's it ride?

X-LinkedRider 03-16-12 06:53 AM

Love the color. The front fork is definitely damaged, no? Other than that, not hot.

The original purchase was under the limit. The upgrade brings it up a little, but what came off this in the upgrade went to a different bike, and that moved components to my cross bike, so the upgrade cost is split over 3 bikes.

Tommaso Team Carbon

http://www.joanhorn.com/image/Tommaso.jpg

Picked up most of the parts here and there when I saw a good deal. Was planning to upgrade another bike. Saw this frame and fork last spring at GiantNerd for $450. Rival shifters and derailleurs, carbon handlebars and seatpost. All the parts were new. Got about $1250 in it.

alexaschwanden 03-22-12 04:12 PM

^Nice bike, i like the black/white contrast.

blcknspo0ln 03-22-12 09:00 PM

Great job on the Tommaso

bianchi10 03-23-12 07:29 AM

white crank arm on that tommaso has got to be painted, electric taped, sharpied or swapped out.....STAT!

Then I think that would be a very slick bike!!

GiantDefyGuy 03-23-12 07:44 AM

That Tommaso is HOT. (PLEASE don't sharpie your white crankarm...that's one of the coolest things on that bike. It all works so well together.)

I would give that Follis a HOT too, but I really hate those saddles. The dent in the fork takes a little away too. So I'll give it a "Mostly Hot." I guess I really like these skinny-tubed steel bikes.

Jaymadd 03-23-12 08:10 AM

kvnrn, what type of crank is that?

It's a Shimano FC-R550. I was silver and I was going to put it on a silver bike when I bought it ($50 / bb). Didn't like the silver on this bike so I used some etching primer and appliance white spray paint. It's actually held up really well. When I get a chip in the paint, I use the touchup paint, wet sand it with 1000 grit paper, looks good as new... Only had a couple small chips all year.

This has been hiding for a while. I think a lot of bikes posted in the Hot or Not should try here...

bianchi10 06-20-13 12:39 PM

+1

good dig

BENZ28 06-20-13 01:22 PM

Paid under 2k. Its horrible picture quality, but it works. Got fit last month, then jacked up my knee, tomorrow will hopefully be my first full ride since then. Looking forward to being back on it. Since I was down I decided it would be a good time to take her down to the frame and give it a good cleaning. Pic was right after. There is something missing in the pic, curious to see how quick bianchi10 sees it.

Not.

I'd go black tires
black hoods and lower them on bars
Either white saddle to match white bartape OR get black bartape to match the black saddle
Huge stack and high rise stem
Black chainring would help

Agree. Too much going on. If you really want to keep the red hoods, maybe black bar tape and tires with red hoods might look nice.
