+1 That is a sweet ass bike. I love seeing the no to 'usual suspect' on here. I think that's what makes this Budget thread that much nicer.

That was one of the factors for me in choosing it. Didn't want to be like everyone else.

I completely here you. This comes in Way under budget for ME but that is only because of sponsor discounts and crazy bartering deals for group sets and such. But that was the desciding factor in going custom over Off the Shelf. I don't really consider this part of budget build though.

Here's a terrible picture of my budget entry. 2008 Cervelo Dual, cost me just under 700 bucks to put it all together (including the pump, cages, and bags).

Yeah, I'm pretty sure X-Link that you are the only one on BF with a Manocoque Superiorlite. How much does that thing weigh?

17.6lbs As pictured with pedals, cages, computer...

I tried to setup the bike better this time, i will get clipless pedals eventually. i dropped and flipped the stem, removed the bags, relocated the chain into the proper gears, it still needs work i know but it is an improvement since last time.

Nice looking CAAD! Doesnt matter about the pedals because red bikes are the fastest anyway :)

alexaschwanden 03-04-12 06:54 PM

Thanks for the positive comment, that's why i picked this bike.

Yes they are. The crank is the one on the far right. http://superiorlitebikes.com/2012/co...-cranksets.php

Also, finally got my brake boss fixed for that Front cantilever brake. I have not decided on whether or not I am keeping that red Forte tape. Even though it is pretty much unused, I think I am going to swap it out for the red grip-tech tape.

Oh my

gadgetadam 03-15-12 12:46 PM

I bought a 2008 model in 2009. Normally $2,000 I got it for $1,500.
Carbon fiber
SRAM Rival
Mavic Aksium hubs/rims

One of the bolts for the water cage would not come out thus the nylon tie to keep it in place. I figure I saved $500 so a minor annoyance is better than taking it back and having to buy a newer model for 2K. Orange is my favorite color. I added a more comfortable seat, orange hoods, and speedplays bringing it up to about $1,750.

Thanks man. I think I am having Deja Vu but nice ass Colnago. My favorite paint scheme I have ever seen of theirs and they do some nice work.

Upgraded some stuffs recently. Got a great deal on a used wet black wsc stem and carbon wsc bars which added a good bit of weight over my old setup but the ergonomics are far better, and the stiffness of the stem compared to the old syntace is a welcome change. Built a new rear wheel to counter the weight difference and stiffen things back up there as well, had a less than ideal lacing pattern in the back before that had a real high spoke tension difference between the two sides. Aesthetically I'd like to throw on a wsc post as well for some cohesiveness but hell, the thomson works great and at 168g, I'd just be spending money for a heavier part that doesn't work as well and doesn't need to be replaced.

15.9 lbs at the moment. Done for a bit, custom steel frame will be swapped in around the end of this year which will pop the weight back in to the mid 16s. THEN it wil be complete...............until next year .
