pgjackson,
I was looking at Rossetti before settling down with a Scott for my crit bike. Curious as to how this bike rides. What kind of riding do you do and what bike did you own previously? The position at which the downtube connects to the top/headtube is interesting, they put a lot of material around it. I am no engineer but I'd think it makes the bike stiffer.

incredibleting 02-19-12 09:23 PM

Thanks everyone! I am quite happy with the build right now. Eventually I do plan on buying a frameset and swapping everything over. Someday...

Thats a great looking bike! One of the best looking Fuji's I seen.

Having a "proper" saddle to bar drop does wonders for presentation. Slamming the stem helps too. :)

Having gorilla arms definitely helps.

Ove both 613's, the all black and the fuji. All hot. Especially love the fuji, though.

We think alike. :)

http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...k/DSC00032.jpg

This is my bad weather bike, as evidenced by the fenders. As pictured:

Frameset: $500 (new).
Original groupset - DA7800 RD, Ultegra 6600 FD, brifters, 12-27 cassette: $100 (used).
FSA Gossamer compact crankset: $100 (NOS).
Wheels - Ultegra hubs, Open Pro CD rims: $241 (new).
Bars - Deda RHM01: $40.

All these parts were originally on my CAAD9 - I bought the Allez frameset after I got a high-end fit and found that the head tube on the CAAD9 was way too short for me. Had to get a new FD (Force) when I switched, since the Allez requires a braze-on.

I've switched out some stuff lately in preparation for Rouge-Roubaix - fenders are off, replaced the RD and cassette with a Tiagra 4600 short cage and corresponding 12-30 cassette (they're in the picture), and installed 700x28 Conti Grand Prix tires. Even if you count these, it only adds ~$150.

So if Hiro cut his fork and got a new stem would he be hot?

Alrighty...

I'm resubmitting my bike to the thread because it's seen a couple changes and after today's ride I consider it "done".

Frame: 2001 Klein Quantum, Silver Cloud, 58cm
Fork: Klein Air Rail OD
Wheelset: 2006 Mavic Ksyrium Elite
Tires: Continental Grand Prix 24, 24mm wide (23mm mounted)
Shifters: Shimano ST-5700
RD: Shimano RD-5700
FD: Shimano FD-5700, braze-on
Crankset: Shimano FC-5750, 175mm, 50/34
Chain: Shimano CN-5701
Calipers: Shimano BR-5700
Pedals: Shimano PD-5700
Handlebar: Ritchey Pro EvoCurve, 40cm
Stem: Ritchey Pro 4-Axis, 100mm
Seatpost: Ritchey Pro Carbon, two bolt, custom cut length
Saddle: Selle Italia Turbomatic
Tape: Fizik Microtex, silver
Cages: Elite Pase Silver Composite Macia
Housings/Cables: Jagwire
Computer: Garmin Edge 305

The bike was purchased on local CL with the original 5500 triple group, wheelset, and other parts on it. Everything except the frameset was changed, the original group, saddle, and wheelset have been sold to offset the cost of the bike.

Total into the bike, give or take a few bucks, $1319. I'm not counting the Garmin as it
moves from bike to bike. If you want to, $80 eBay buy with cadence sensor and heart rate strap. I have a few more bits to sell too...maybe $25-$50 worth to further offset the cost.

I love the ride. The whole bike just works for me...the fit is great (I got lucky with the stem choice), the 105 group is just amazing for the money, wheels spin like butter. I think the group and the frame compliment each other perfectly in a visual sense.

I welcome your comments!

Well, let's take a ride sometime! I doubt you'll have any trouble keeping up with me :)

Ok, I gotta know, where do you see me? Bailey Rd., Woodbury Dr., in Cottage Grove or Hinton/Radio?

Yep, I live down the road across from Bielenberg...I would have been about 0.5 mi in at that point :)

My previous bikes were a Fuji Newest 3.0, a Felt Z85 and Giant Defy 1. This is my first CF bike so I really have nothing to similar to compare it to. The bike is definitely stiff. Rossetti claims that all their frames are designed for racing and purposely very stiff. The entire bike is beefy...the BB is huge, the chainstay and seatstay tubes are massive and the fork is very thick. But the bike still only weighs 16.1 lbs with wheels, cages and pedals. I think the headtube design is mostly for looks. I do not race and at 42 with knee surgery and 3 bulging disks, I am not really known for hammering the roads. Most of my rides are at a moderate to brisk pace with a weekly/bi-weekly personal TT ride at max effort. Just did the Palm Springs Century and this bike performed magnificently. It will go fast as you make it go.

Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and wouldn't trade it for anything else within $1000 of what I paid.

Just cruised through the entire thread.... IMO these make up my short list of HOT budget bikes so far...

Yaniel - BMC on page 2

Lowcel - clean and simple Fuji on page 2

fa63 - super sharp black Six13 on page 4

yzeater - a hot all black Look on page 4

khatful - sleek Klein on page 7

muckymucky - bold Bianchi on page 8

Each of them has a look that flows and exudes a look of performance.

Wait, that's a setback seat post!!!! I didn't even know....and I need a zero setback seat post, i can't reach all the way to the hoods that easily.....Any one know of a cheap seatpost I can get?
and the saddle is level(look at the rails), that is just the shape of the saddle.

EDIT: Dang...seat posts are expensive, screw that I'm sticking with the one I have.....

X-LinkedRider 02-23-12 11:18 PM

Here it is complete. With carbon cages, SHimano PD-R540 pedals, Sram Rival Group with FSA Cross Crankset.
