A plain silver bike with white saddle and bar tape is not exactly "colorful".

True, but I think a little goes a long way. Otherwise you end up with lampre merida and small children cry when you cycle past. If I did go monotone it would have to be black hoods anyway.

My Roubaix. $630 new with 9spd tiagra/105 mix. Got about 14,000 miles on her now. It's got pure 10spd 105+ now, I think 6700 cassette/BB/hubs.

Decent frame, butted and hydroformed oversized stuff Al, carbon rear triangle. Got a few scuffs from abuse :)

Here's my budget (and only) build. I had to buy and sell lots of stuff to get it the way it is now, but it's definitely worth under the $2k mark. Bought the Hermes Sport wheels just recently, which cost $400. I bought everything else used from craigslist, forums or the SD velodrome swap meet; it helped me find the entire SRAM Rival groupset for $400 in brand new condition.

Nice, it's a real good frame. ;-)

Sorry to plaster photos of my bike everywhere, but it fits this thread:
Miracle Trade matte MC053, including fork, post, headset, extra headset, hanger - $500
WH6700 wheels: $400
Scrounged Ultegra 6600 off of my old bike, lets be generous and say $500
Miracle Trade HB003 bars and ST002 stem, both full carbon, $90 total for both
Free SLR saddle I got from a friend (rule number one in cycling: ride with people who like to get rid of stuff frequently): $0
Conti GP4000S tires: $110
Forte tape: $18
Ultegra 6700 pedals, one season old, let's say $100
Cables (Jagwire Racer kit): $55
That's $1,773
If I included all of the shipping costs, I'd probably be right below $2K.

Weighs about 16.5 pounds. Ignore the steerer, I just built it up today and I'm still working on position.

Very hot and purposeful.

That's not the problem, the blacked out murdered look is just lame and boring. Screams someone trying too hard to be masculine somehow.

Each one is under $2K.

Unfortunately none are hot either.

Bike 1 has potential. Just bars too high. Boost the contrast, and color levels to take out some of the haziness.

The other photos don't below in this forum. I see mountain and touring and I think more specific places for those.

it's a giant defy (2010 or 2011 model year) purchased from bikesdirect with 105 groupset except crank). has it been powdercoated? or...?

anyway i want to say hot, but the white cables are so damn distracting. also, minor point, but since this is a show pony thread, a bottle cage upgrade would be a cheap way to enhance the profile in photos.

still, it's close to hotness though. very close.

Half right. It is a Bike Island (related to BD I think) Gravity frame, but looks a lot like the Giant geometry. It came powder coated, and cabled white because the tape and saddle used to be white. They are white again, and it does look better with more white. 105 levers, Tiagra 4600 everything else save crank.

fried bake 06-21-13 03:03 PM

i'd love to see a pic with the white saddle and bar tape.

Ok, I'll try mine here. Approx. $400 all together after replacement of saddle, pedals, tape, cables.

I've heard it looks like the McDonald's team bike, that's fair. Dollar menu hot? Or not?

 Warm, and in an unconventional way. Like Felicity Huffman. I don't know why she's hot, she just is.

I like it! Hot!

yummygooey 06-24-13 02:15 PM

Guess my Spooky belongs here. I had a spare group in my parts box so this cost me a grand total of $620 to get running (frame/fork/headset/seatpost/brakes/chain).

I have mounted square-taper black steel cranks just because they matched the bike. I have a chrome compact, brand new, sitting around waiting for the right build.

elemtee 06-27-13 09:26 PM

had the LBS weigh it today, comes in at 19lbs 6oz, not that it matters as it feels like a feather after commuting all week on a steel bike with rack and panniers.

$200 BD/BI frameset, $320 for wheel bits, most eveything else on hand and unused (rode fixed gear exclusively for about a year). Easily sub $1k.

I'm a 41 misfit, the upper echelon of mediocrity of you will. My bike costs over $2,000 and under $10,000.

That came out really nice! :thumb: So nice to see something understated rather than loaded with logos. I'm guessing the tires are the Service Course versions? I've got the Pro 4 Endurance; I love the tires, but can't find any without the colored portion on the sidewalls (I've got the grey).
