How much did you get the frame etc for to make it under the $2k budget? I was looking at the sempre frames earlier this year when the sempre pros came out but they were still going for $1500.

Got it used, price was under 1K ... after, I sold the speedplays, and shoes, and saddle, and bottle cages and saddle bags... off.

Thanks guys! It's also still a very viable ride, I love the way steel feels.

*Old* 80's Bianchi something-or-other, 54/54cm, used to be pink and black, 7 speed downtube Shimano 300ex / exage ? shifter, square taper biopace, ambrosio super elites, aero brake levers, with quill stem ...
Little brother barrowed it, during his tri phase and "lost" most of the orig handlebars and saddle/seatpost ... disapointed so striped the rest of the parts, and made it ss for while, collecting parts and planed on re-building it on a budget from the walmart of bike shops, thats why there is so much forte parts on it ( fork, wheelset, saddle, stem. ) converted from threded to threadless, pieced the ultegra 6600, sti levers, brakes, der's, from here an there ... swaped out the biopace for mega exo/fsa ...
It purdy sweet... the purist hate it, and so do the techies ...

For a breif time after re-acquiring it looked like this ( eek ) :

Thanks to BF, it looks a little better now ... and much faster. : o)

pretty! That's a lot of saddle/bar drop!

Next set of bar tape try white maybe?

Sixty Fiver 07-29-13 12:01 AM

After I build up the new wheels with the 600 Tricolour hubs I have and sell all the sweet vintage bits I swapped out for the 600 tricolour group I purchased, my handbuilt Proctor is probably going to come in at less than $300.00 and for a steel bicycle it will be very light.

http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikep...tor600tri1.JPG

Doing a little weight math I think I should be looking at a sub 19 pound steel road bike... it is built on 753 tubes which are very light and the custom made carbon saddle I was given will knock off 150 - 200 grams. The current wheels are nice enough (and came with the bike) but they are just placeholders until I build the new wheels.

Thanks...I have been pretty impressed with it really. The 105 is quite good, I've only ever had Ultegra or Campy (or Mavic if you want to know how old I am) and the geometry is really close to a custom bike I had years ago.

As far as white tape goes, it came with white....I literally took it off when I got home. It was just a little too much. In fact, I've been looking for my next saddle and I'm thinking of going with a black saddle/tape when that happens. Actually, I'll probably end up eventually going with a black stem and seatpost too at some point.

Redux: Staged it a bit more, changed the tape to black, and flipped the stem (back has been getting more flexible).

:wtf:For $1800 you could have a brand name carbon bike with newer internal routing ultegra

bugly64 08-04-13 08:09 PM

I don't agree with you and I am at 18 lbs with the Brooks. Please share what bikes are full Ultegra.

Carloswithac 08-04-13 08:29 PM

Nice Fuji! This was actually in front of Fiesta Island by Sea World.
