I posted this in the other Hot r Not thread, but I spent just about $1000 on this so I thought I'd post here :D

3kmi 02-14-12 09:00 PM

It wasn't hot there and its not hot here

eippo1 02-14-12 09:48 PM

The scat is hot. Nice build. The newest is close but not quite there.

very hot eggcept bar angle, some might say.

Here's the most recent picture of it. Though the saddle has been swapped since then, it's the same.

*edit1*
Don't mind the blur please. It's not really blur, but it's a shadow on the wall created by the camera's flash. I've figured out the manual functions since then ;)

*edit2*
I just noticed that it still has my old seatpost. I have an alu Pro LT seatpost on it now as well.

*edit3*
I need to stop editing, but I can't help noticing minor changes. I have two new bottlecages as well now.

^ Interesting build. Frame reminds me a lot of my old Flyte SRS-3, that darned frame beat the dickens out of me on rough roads. Hopefully your bike rides better than that. But honestly, IMO, not hot.

And to be fair, here's said Flyte (now long gone, when built it was well under 2k even with the full Campy Centaur group)

It's not that bad - new pedals, a zero setback seat post and trimming the steerer would work wonders.

...but if your post was alluding to the opinion that hotness is not relative to price, I would agree.

I see you had the R5's on your Flyte, I have R7's.

I agree on the 'not hot' verdict, even though it's my own bike. At first I loved it to bits, but it grew on me and is just a plain road bike with 'just Tiagra' and a bad paintjob. The geometry has been messed up by making it as comfy as possible. Even though the short stem makes it look freaky, it rides very nicely and handles great. I'm thinking about either getting a new bike (Merckx AMX-3), or getting mine painted and start over with a blank sheet on this one as the frame is in great condition.

It's partly the fork/ frame combo. It doesn't look like they put much thought into integrating them together.

fa63 02-15-12 09:57 AM

This squeezes in just under the $2K mark:

Front derailleur is on its way.

X-LinkedRider 02-15-12 10:07 AM

Very nice FA. They are fantastic frames. How much of a difference did that fork make? Was it weight thing or style or what that made you switch out the stock fork?

Hot (Though the Crank should be black)

fa63 02-15-12 10:27 AM

Thanks for the compliments. The fork was on sale for a great deal, and I am a sucker for great deals so I went for it :) It is a bit lighter than the fork it replaced, and it looks and rides good so I think it was money well spent.

Hot. I remember when PB was blowing these frames out and still regret not getting one.

True. At the moment I made the purchase I just loved it. Now I am looking back and I can even make some fun of myself about that ;) Though, when you look at the fork color, it comes back in the logo outlining, but still it looks a bit awkward.

milkbaby 02-15-12 12:20 PM

That Bianchi is hot, and probably even my size but I couldn't personally own a non-celeste Bianchi...

The Flyte is very hot, great build....

milkbaby 02-15-12 12:23 PM

That Ti is like the super hot girl next door... Some people would overlook her, but my eyes are bugging out. 8^)

eippo1 02-15-12 12:28 PM

That Scattante Ti is awfully nice for under 2K. I have that fork on my E5 and it's going on my Dean as well. Love it.

I had a late 90's celeste Bianchi and had all kinds of red accents on it - pedals, bar tape, stem, skewers. Then about a year later I realized that it was pretty awful looking and got rid of all the red, but I loved it at the time.

Also qualifies for the under $1K thread. What I needed was a trainer instead of a racer. Wound up building this...

X-LinkedRider 02-15-12 08:39 PM

That the Nashbar frame? Very nice. I have seen a couple these now starting to be build up quite nice.
