i think i understand why colleges require completion of at least one ethics course.

Yes, stealing your ideas is ethical, depending entirely on your ethical base. Child labor is ethical, or at least it was when we used it to climb to the top of the heap, and now want to lament others using it. Whatever a specific culture defines as ethical is ethical for them, and to apply yours to others is foolish, IMHO. Now the US may offer legal protections to its citizen's IP, but that shouldn't apply outside of our territorial holdings, as I don't want any other sovereign land's laws applying to me.

I'm glad Pythagoras didn't have IP rights to his theorem, or we'd still be pointing at triangles going "What's that again?"
Edit: of course, if he had, they'd have a solution to the Greek debt crisis.

That might have been fine when cultures were largely insular, but we're in an era global trade now, which is subject to international treaties.

Ethics? I was once a used car salesman.

That's how Pcad rolls.

So all used car salesman are unethical?
Are used bike salesman/persons also unethical?

I always thought that Pcad rolled down the road with the wind at his back and willing to do his share of the pulls?

I don't think he drinks anymore. Also years back I tried to buy ammunition at Walmart as well as a 6pk of Heineken. I was told by the cashier that I couldn't buy both. What I found funny about the shooting room was once you have the trash can posisitioned right. The bolt action we were shooting ejected shells in it perfectly. The semi auto would eject them all over the place however. A bolt action .22 with a suppressor is now on my want list. He just bought a .308 bolt action and he has a suppressor on the way for it. That's what I really want, but I am affraid it will still be too loud for what I want it for. The bolt action .22 sounded like a pellet gun.

Is the tax certificate for the suppressor around $250 plus having to get local police to sign off on it for the permit? I'm pretty sure that is what it costs, it could be slightly lower. You will have to have the permit and tax certificate for each suppressor so it can get expensive.

I am pretty sure it is only a $200 tax stamp. My friend is an ffl, and he has many full autos a dozen or so suppressors in various calibers. When I am ready, I'll just get it through him. I am thinking about just getting a .223 suppressor so I can use it on my ar, or the proposed .22 bolt action build. From what he has told me you don't need a permit. You just pay the tax stamp and pass the background check, and you are golden.

I believe for the suppressor you do have to have a permit that involves the police approving it in addition to the fee.

Soloist Assassin 02-09-12 07:51 AM

I should also add it does take awhile for the Feds to process the tax stamps, and background checks. He has waited for over a year on some of his purchases.

Might be a state thing. Pretty sure all you need here is just the stamp.

"Strong Carbon Frames" got locked.

I am SHOCKED! Shocked, I tell you...

Shocked that it took 6 pages. I had predicted only 2. I lose the over/under.

That's what you get for betting against a mod. :p

The part you mentioned involving the feds and the back ground check is probably the same thing I'm refering to.

P.S. why you a carbon hater? :innocent:

Probably. He has all the forms, and he's done it quite a few times. I always thought a full auto would be my first stamp, but a suppressor seems so much more practical and useful.

I think it is because I can't get my 5 year old SL1 to crack. If it would crack I would be able to get a killer deal on an Altamira replacement. :D
