So I was just over at my gun nut friend's house. He now has a shooting room. It is a spare bedroom in his second story overlooking his gun range. He has a table set up looking out the window, and he shoots suppressed .22 rifles out the window. It is a pretty sweet setup for shooting in cold weather.

Damn, that jersey shop thread got shut down quick. Rangerdavid is all bent outta shape over that one. I'm thinking he's right about them being counterfeits though. I think a legit shop would be doing big enough runs to necessitate offset printing of sublimation papers. waiting for papers to come off a large format inkjet loaded with sublimation ink would be painful.
A couple of the captions need fixing as well. The guy calls the heatpress a sub printer. Takes me back to when I screenprinted sublimation papers for jerseys. Some of our big runs were with offset printed papers but mostly silkscreened. This was well before you could get giant inkjet sub printers though. |

Since this is road foo, that jersey thread makes me want to rant:
China is not taking our jobs, we gave them our jobs in exchange for $40 DVD players and toys in our happy meals. Intellectual property whining is BS, the "I thought of it so I own it forever" syndrome is unrealistic. If you want to own it, produce it better than everyone else at a price that the market accepts, and move on with no whining. But America gave up on making anything, so now all we have is IP and hand wringing. end rant and ignore at your leisure. |

ethics is sticky...at first it seems obvious to say it's at minimum unfair, if not downright unethical, but you could also argue that someone ripping off your idea makes you have to work come up with new and improved stuff and overall it drives us forward, so we invent and innovate, not just rest on our laurels...
i also agree with Roll....no one took our jobs, we gave them away.... i think i understand why colleges require completion of at least one ethics course. |

The reference to a DVD in the OP was particularly ironic, because for a few cents someone can copy a movie that took millions of dollars to create. How is that going to make anyone work harder?
there isn'e enough time or room to go into it, but it opens questions of "once a movie is out there, do you lose rights to it?" and "the intent of the movie...art? or just make money" and a few others. it's really a lot deeper and more involved than it appears. |
