Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

damn you 'merican's have cheap money! that rate is just fractionally higher than the government Official Cash Rate. my mortgage interest is 5.5%, and that is low. A couple of years ago the floating mortgage rates were around 8%.

In fact, that is like THE quintessential Club DSM picture. Fastest DSM drag car ever vs fastest DSM autocross car ever, in Norwalk, at the Shootout. That's the entire DSM history right there in the same picture.

Pretty good stuff man. I've been going there for years. The DSM crowd is a diverse bunch. So many slapped together cars, with big turbos, 1000cc injectors, stock ecus, with some janky piggyback crap controlling the fuel, running 30lbs of boost, and they wonder why it runs like crap. Then you've got a handful of guys like Shep, that do stuff right, and go fast as hell, trying his hardest to keep the beast out of the wall. Either way it is always a good show. The best ever had to be when the AMS Evo lost a door, and it beat the car in the other lane to the beams. That was hilarious. I don't even really like DSMs a whole lot, or drag racing for that matter, but it's fun to watch. Kinda like a train wreck. I built a Colt once. Built a 4g63t for it, and that old beater ripped, but it handled terrible, and the brakes sucked. Never ever ran more than a worked 14b on it, and it was still a handful.

They're loaning us their early 70s 24 ft trailer for a rally in Fort Collins next month. They're taking the Bambi. Not my cup of tea (the rally that is), but it's a great opportunity to see how well the truck pulls a trailer that big and get a few pointers. Too big, I think, but we'll see. If the truck struggles, at least I'm only an hour away.

It should be fine. My F-150 struggles a bit to pull my enclosed car trailer with the CR-X in it, but it's heavier, and the air drag is a lot worse. Plus I don't have any form of positive manifold pressure like you.

People from sea level really don't get how little air there is up here. Popping a TRD blower on top of the V-6 only makes sense.

Wait she got the satan fuel version? Probably a good idea though, those VW diesels are pretty stout.

Not to be a downer, but sometimes life blows. Wife has been in the hospital for 3 days with pancreatitis. It is very hard to watch your spouse suffer and not be able to do an effing thing.

Thanks. Again, didn't mean to be a downer. I'm finding alcohol not to be as uplifting as the can promised.

Nice job on the car, Jen. My Mazda 3 is a copy of the GTI interior, and I think VW really has a crisp interior design. Don't get tickets.

And thanks. The Germans do good work on the interiors, that's for sure.

I hope she heals up ASAP.

Acute pancreatitis hurts more than just about anything.

PM me if you need an online second opinion, but generally you get better with time and bowel rest (no food/drink). And pain meds.
