Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don't have any direct experience with them, but from what I've heard, most of the bikes available on Bikes Direct are great bikes. Certainly much better than any of the ones found in box-stores (Wal-Mart, Target, etc).

One of the major drawbacks is that you're either going to have to know how to assemble the bike, and have the tools to do so, or you're going to have to bring the un-assembled bike to your local bike shop and pay them to assemble it for you - which pretty much negates the cost savings.

Good deals. I bought one bike from there for my son, and would not hesitate to buy another for him or myself. Helps to have some experience working on bikes as some minor assembly and adjustment is required. If you have no experience and aren't mechanically inclined, it would be best to pay a shop the $25-50 for setup, adjustments and safety check.

I know one guy that bought his Kestrel from there. LOVES it. I'd have no problem buying from them if they had what I was looking for.

Seriously, search this forum. In two seconds you will find tons of BD threads. They are great bikes if they fit and you know how to set them up. We have covered this so many times now.....
