Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Every time I see that "Maybe I'm Amazed" thread title, I start hearing the Paul McCartney song in my head. The original from 1970, which is a decent song...not the live Wings single c. 1976 that kinda sucks.

Anyway, better luck next year.
Lucky for me, my man card went to platinum irrevocable status after winning the State Championship RR, and then crashing out the next day breaking my collarbone, and driving home afterward. So no worries.

I txted her yesterday during the Florida game, and she txted me back. She also liked a pic on FB of Ms. Solo, and I yesterday. So she is still alive.

It was good, sbxx. I really expected to put in a full 4 hours in decent terrain, which that area has. Very few flats, and with roads named Roller Coaster, you get the idea. But, folks and their plans.... 2 hour limit, and I was barely warmed up by the time we were back. Ah well. Team time is important, so that's why it was good.

Did you get out?

Was that pro/cat 1? If so then I'll agree. If not then I don't think so Sparky.

We heard the live Wings single ad nauseum while we were on our Family Vacation Tour of 1977.

Yeah, for some reason the song was NOT released as a single in 1970 but was released as a single from their live album several years later.

Here's a link to the original if anyone cares. I do believe Paul is playing every single instrument. Can you do that, PCAD?

Are you training for a specific event??
Not as such - just trying to hold on to my fitness and keep the weight loss machine running.

Dammit. The Black Oak KOM pulled 10 seconds out of himself. The bar got raised.

While the idea of you recalling some nuance of an event in a sport you lack any understanding of is worthy of its own thread, lets assume for a moment you're correct. What impetus would I have to chase down my own teammates?

My pal Az let me lay down the lead guitar track on his new song in FL last weekend, so I got to experience what it's like to be a session guy.

Again, you can only blame me for the lead guitar work (nothing else) on this track.

Illini beat NW? Awww man. Who woulda thunk? Wished that I taped it.

Regarding the Bears, it's good to have Cutler back. He makes passes that Campbell wouldn't think about trying.

Illini hoops. After winning Maui, they almost lost to Gardner Webb yesterday. 7-0 under Groce.

Northwestern crushed the Illini on Saturday in the Land of Lincoln game.

What a ****ty game. Ponder needs to be better than showing flashes of competence. I think that the Vikes would have fared better just handing it off to AD every play.

Oh well, at least GB got absolutely dismantled.

Honestly, I was thinking that Ponder isn't all that bad given that he's only in his second year. He needs more targets. But I do agree that Peterson should have been utilized more.

Hear hear on GB. Dangit. Shoulda taped that game too. That wouldve been enjoyable to watch.

Aside from the Bears game, I spent the day cleaning out the garage (gotta get ready for winter and able to park two cars in there again), and I finally installed the automatic whole-house humidifier on the furnace.

I just learned that all new bikes sold in the UK must come equipped with a bell. How funny.
