It's hard to love an ugly bike.

It was more of a slow leak.

The tire started slipping and gripping. At first I thought it was a mechanical problem in the Computrainer, or maybe the resistance unit struggling with me being in bull low. But it kept getting worse. At some point, I looked down at my Garmin and it said "34 km/h 260W" but the on-screen Computrainer display said "12 km/h 140W" and the light FINALLY clicked on.

I was crosseyed with effort and not thinking straight.

But man, that ride of shame at the end... I so wanted to just frigggin' stop but quitting in front of everybody would have been worse.

I suck.

When I changed the tube, it was punctured right under the tread surface. I found no matching hole or spike in the tire. And it was a proper Vittoria trainer tire too. How I managed that, I have no idea.

The only hard thing about this is that one man's beauty is another man's ugly beast. I don't think Specialized makes a pretty bike, but others rave about them. But I agree that if you don't find your own bike to be nice looking, it makes it hard to pick out of the stable.

^^ Soooo envious. -5 here, feels like -19. Improvement from yesterday when it felt like -31 with the wind. I took the trash out and thought I was going to get frostbite.

I'd like to say this is unusual, but we always get some kind of weather you can golf in sometime in January. Feb-Mar are colder.

this weather would be more bearable if there were snow on the ground.

we do have snow, and it's up to 12 degrees here in the North Carolina mountains. bad part is I've caught a cold. that really sucks.

Four layers was perfect for today's lunchtime run. The thermometer on the garage read 20°. We've got a couple of inches of snow on the ground, so there is some drifting. It's sunny and windy on our little hill, but the view north and west is pretty ominous. They're getting heavy snow up there right now.

Since moving in to the new house, each of our 4 animals has claimed a vent for their own. Rough life.

Shut yer yap - I've been in your neck of the woods when a dusting of snow caused schools to close down and a stampede to stock up at the grocery stores.
