Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No they start out plump, diet and exercise, and lots of it, and graduate slim. Actually the transformation, even though you're with them up to 16 hours a day is nothing short of unbelieveable..but no red stripes...

Remember when my buddy joined the marines back in 94 (or 95) he had pretty striped shirts to let everyone know that he was fat. I guess they are more politically correct now.

It's in pretty good shape between Oneida and Rochester.

It actually isn't too bad from Albany to Erie (which is, of course, not in NY), but it does get a tad hairy from Albany east.

Now 17 / newly stupidly named 86 is crap from Olean to PA, but that is a whole different story.

Crap, I didn't check, is highway condition an approved subject, or am I audaciously flaunting the line?

Apparently the "Pastor" from the post two pages ago got the waitress who posted it on line fired. He might want to bump up his percentage to God.

We were talking about that at dinner tonight.

I left the waitress my standard tip - take the bill, move the decimal one place to the left, round up and multiply by 2.

It has jumped up. Coach said I was over doing the base stuff and baked a bit too much. He had me take a week off and cut my time when everyone else was riding a ton. I did not like it, but it looks like it helped. A lot.

Shopping for thermal tights feels kinda weird when it's 50 degrees @ 8:30. Feels like thermal tights season might be over already...
